Episode 7 was kinda better than 8 even though the battle was awesome.   |

 Ratings are BACK!!!

		| ne week after delivering its lowest-rated and least-watched episode in two seasons, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” roared back with the most-watched edition since the season premiere.
Sunday’s “Game of Thrones,” which received rave reviews, drew a 3.45 adults 18-49 rating with 7.01 million viewers. While several interim episodes posted stronger adults 18-49 marks, no episode since the April 12 season five premiere (8.00 million viewers) reached a larger live+same-day audience.

Last week’s “Thrones” settled for a 2.53 adults 18-49 rating with 5.40 million viewers. It was the second straight installment to set a two-season viewership low.
 | Ratings for the last two episodes should be even higher.  |

I love Game of Thrones but I'm not watching for the battles or the damn wall
I'm watching because I love Sansa    |

I truly think the episode leak is what gave the show its problems this season.
People had over a month to stew over four episodes they binge watched...

The leaked 4 episodes ended on a high with the sons of harpies and sir barristan dying but it was a small payout after four episodes. Imagine if season 4 had leaked.. The purple wedding and whatnot. And episodes 5 and 6 added little to the thrill of the season. They should have known expectations would be high after season 4.
Also, one of my biggest complaints from this season is the utter wastage of dorne after how it was hyped during promos. You wanna talk about things that had no importance? The whole dorne plot has had no importance. Eight episodes.. And the best we got out of all the time in dorne were that one sandsnake's boobs. And the sandsnakes in the books are so distinguishable.. Each with a different vert specific personality, while the show's sandsnakes.. I couldnt even bother myself to remember who's name is what.

That said, episode 8 was such a highlight for the season.. Thus my increased confusion regarding anyone not liking it.
But to each his own I guess..

I still miss catelyn.    |

@Mariano, ye, the first 5 episodes weren't complete boredom, but they were considerably weaker and more of "build up" episodes in comparison to previous seasons where you'd only get 1 or 2 of those in a row, not 5. They were just too linear and lacked any plot twists. That's why after episode 6 aired a lot of critics were saying "Game of Thrones" is back etc etc. And I couldn't help but agree, because I was complaining throughout those 5 episodes. Here's just hoping that the build up for the last 2 episodes was worth it. | Well I completely agree about that, but here we are, we got to episode 6,7,8 so I kind of don't even care that the first few were slow
I just disagreed on your argument about the fights etc, because I really thought I wouldn't enjoy the storyline with the Wall etc. but I was genuinely gagging watching it, i believe it was a great scene and the storyline got so much more interesting :X  |

It's a political drama. It's all about the games the rulers play to achieve their goals, the powerful and unexpected plot twists, the volatile nature of any and every major character (uncharacteristically so for any other show) and just generally the unpredictable course of the story.

Sorry if I hurt the feelings of hardcore fanboys who think that the show is faultless, but epic battles is not what Game of Thrones is all about. If CGI overloaded face smashing is the reason why you are watching this show, then I feel bad for you.
 | See, I agree with your first paragraph but the second one is where you lost me. Like, yeah, there definitely will be a certain demographic of viewers who will be most interested in the high-budget CGI action scenes, but ultimately there's nothing wrong with that. I really enjoyed it, but less-so for the in-your-face fighting and more for the implications it has on the rest of the story going forward. Like it's the first time we're seeing for ourselves just how large and prepared for war the Night's King's army is, and just how fast winter is coming, and it'll impact all of the characters eventually and will put all of the ongoing political squabbling into perspective. There's no denying that the scene was created primarily for ratings, but at the end of the day it was both entertaining to watch and also a pivotal plot point because I think it'll end up being more of a catalyst in what happens to Jon over the final 2 episodes this season.  |

I actually think Season 5 is very good and consistent.   |

Sam/Gilly extract the most sighs from the people I watch with, they're not that interesting unless someone like Stannis walks in and questions him about his knowledge of White Walkers and dragonglass etc.
I agree that some bits can get tedious and there is definitely enough time to adapt way better material from the books into the show. I still don't mind the build-up episodes though, but maybe that's because I'm attached enough to enough of the main characters. However I have to say the show has really lost entertaining characters in Joffrey and Tywin, I knew this season would be a little more boring.

 | I was so ecstatic when it looked like she was gonna get raped and he would get killed in the process. Yet he lived.... By far the worst and most boring character. Frankly, the character may not be that bad, but the actor is just awful... there's something about him that I can't stand... and it's not his weight, it's his body language and facial expressions. He's so one-dimensional.  |

I agree, GIlly/Sam + Dorne are rly the most boring storyplots this season. I wouldnt mind Gilly and Sam, its just that they are overexposed imho. It would be totally enough to see them 2-3 times this season, but they are shown almost every episode. Not liking that too much.   |

The final 2 episodes are gonna be ruined by the Dorne storyline I want focus on Cersei, Dany, Arya and Sansa, not Jaime  |

Dorne has been handled poorly. They changed the narrative completely and pretty much neutered one of my fave new characters from last season in the process: Ellaria. The Sand Snakes and their revenge + their clunky dialogue feel a little forced (I liked Tyene's prison scene with Bronn tho). I'm hoping we get to see more of Prince Doran and Areo next episode, which looks like it'll be the case.  |
