Before IB, a viral video of I Got You should have been released as buzz for the album as it is obviously very touching and introduces the woman she has become. She should have then gone around promoting the album itself by dropping hints of who she's working with and the direction and story ton talk shows and MTV, etc. This way people could actually anticipate an album and know it was coming (no one even knows Ciara released her album, people honestly don't even know I Bet).

She then should have done a dual release. I Bet along with DLWML. She should have premiered the latter on Ryan Seacrest and got a radio deal. I Bet should have been premiered on a big Urban station. BOTH RELEASED WITH AN ACTUAL FUCQING BANNER ON ITUNES FOR GODS SAKE.

This would be 3 releases that would round out the sound of the album and allow the GP to get to know the versatility of this album rather than releasing a urban single to front it, which is honestly just silly.

Why can't she atleast get SNL? She should have promoted both tracks on every single damn nighttime talk show. She should have used her time on single mom television (the view, mike and kelly, etc.) to promote I Got You, something they could actually relate to and admire.

She then should have released the album and the video for DLWML the same week. A huge performance at the billboard awards of OWA (as the choreo is intense and would remind people of her talent) and DLWML.

But no, they want to flop. It could have been so easy.

Don't blame Ciara for this, ha teams/labels aren't this smart. You honestly can't expect artists to come up with actual good release plans like this. If she did this, 70k to 100k would be on lock. Labels need to do more aggressive promotion and promotion that makes sense. I Bet isn't great for The View nor Michael and Kelly but would work great on night time shows and international daytime (since they're clearly interested in this sound hence I Bet doing ok internationally with no push at all).

I don't see how not though. This is her career, she's been in this for 10 years. If I can come up with this, so can she. Artists sit around and wait for a team to make it all happen but when things fail they need to learn to take charge and give their albums all the attention they deserve however they can.

Ciara has a booking agent, manager and publicist. If the label slacks she has people around her who should be making it happen. So what's the issue?

It's cute that I Bet is doing well WW but I'm okay with them holding off on WW promo until a future single is released - they should go with something like Give Me Love at some point, it'd take off and she could promote.

The review thread isn't getting much play, so I'm gonna keep posting review clippings in here now. Here's the Panama City News Herald stanning (emphasis mine):

Expectations are a funny thing and I won’t lie, they’ve influenced how I’ve listened to some recent albums...

Ciara – “Jackie”

Expectation: Did not have one

Was my expectation met: I’ll be honest, I did not think that highly of Ciara before listening to “Jackie.” I thought of her in the third tier of 2000s divas (Beyonce has the top tier basically to herself) putting her on par with such luminaries as Christina Milian and Ashanti. I think one of Ciara’s motivations for “Jackie" was to show me how wrong I was (the other was to probably show Future how wrong he was).

“Jackie” is the best pop album of the year so far. The beats are money – “Jackie (B.M.F), “That’s How I’m Feeling” and “I Bet.” “That’s How I’m Feeling” makes Pitbull passable and that is saying something.

Ciara is not the best singer; she’s not bad, but I don’t know if she could win American Idol. In the past, I’ve had the misconception that an album like this could be made by anyone – the beats are more of the star. However, part of being a pop star is having a good ear and knowing how your voice would work with certain tracks.

She hit this one out of the park.
