Katy's album sales are rather pathetic considering the soon-to-be 4 #1 singles. The reason why she is doing so well singles-wise is that all of the singles from "Teenage Dream" have got first single treatment. Just look at the promo "E.T." has got and has yet to get and it's her fourth single.

Yes, I forgot about the music video.
The effect will be different, because TTWE hasn't even crossed the 300K mark in sales. HIAM had crossed 900K when the video came out.

It will definately be a strong competitor for #1. The promo will be fresh from the oven and the MV will come just a couple of days later.
With the MV she is definately aiming for that #1.

Femme Fatale release week + massive promo + MV + 50M-60M airplay.
She has VERY good chances of #1.
Jive Is finally stepping their game up

I think I finally get why Jive wanted to release TTWE so fast. They wanted it to sell consistently until the album release, then BAM #1 album and #1 single.

It's the perfect plan, hopefully it works.

"Hold It Against Me" video did nothing for the song, it actually fell out of the top 10 the next week. It was released excessively late (it should have been released the first week of February, it would have been double platinum by now had they done that) and I see they're learning from their mistakes. You cannot just release a lead single and think it will sell on its own. Had she performed "Hold It Against Me" even once in (late) January, it would have still been #1.

"Till The World Ends" will end up being a bigger hit than "Hold It Against Me" because the promo will kick in right when the song will need it.

IDK, but Brit has done it before in the BOMT era.
And in the Circus era she was VERY close.

Circus (song) was #3 and Circus (album) was #1.

Circus (song) didn't go #1 because it had less than 10M in airplay. And Britney only performed it once + the MV right away.

TTWE will have around 50-60M in AI by the time Femme Fatale drops, and since Britney is doing more promo that week than in the opening week in the Circus era TTWE has definately more probabilities for a #1.
