If 350k with a moderate hit is bad than 286k with a mega smash, Walmart commercials promoting her album every 5 minutes, and "Katy Perry Day" radio playing her songs 5 times per hour, is far worse
Gaga at her absolute lowest point of her carreer is doing more than Katy who is in her peak
The difference is that Gaga needs all the sales she can get during the first week unless she plans to have an era with longevity this time.

Listening to ARTPOP and I don't blame Jimmy for choosing Applause as the lead single. None of the songs really scream "smash"! Though Gypsy & Fashion! would have still been better choices.
