The E.T. "remix" did so well because it was the one they were promoting the most, it was the version most pop radio stations were playing, and they used it in the music video. Most of the other remixes don't get that sort of promotion (although some do, like Black and Yellow's remix had a seperate music video, for example). So most of the general public probably think Kanye was on the original version of E.T.
While we're on remixes, the Steve Kazee remix of A Thousand Years is top 10 now!!
and Rihanna is #9
