I’m not going to say that “I Knew You Were Trouble” is bad, because it’s not. It’s far from it, and it has all the makings of one of those songs that everybody complains about at first, but then succumbs to later. However, it also reeks of the same kind of chart-hungry desperation that radiated from Alicia Keys when she recorded a last minute duet with Beyonce, or when Katy Perry slashed all her singles to three cents (okay, 69 cents) on iTunes.

Taylor’s new style will certainly appeal to pop fans who can’t handle even the faintest whiff of country music, but a lot of her longtime fans will be turned off by the fact that Taylor is now starting to sound less like herself, and more and more like everybody else.

Exactly. Not against her experimenting. But the watered down lyrics is a big NO. And if she wants to be the biggest thing in the world, she's doing it in a wrong way.

Ballads are given. Each of her albums has had lengthy ballads. Remember that the promo songs of SN were the generic short songs. The gems were left unreleased.

Pop fans are singles buyer, so if they've been buying these countdown singles, Taylor might as well release all of her songs as 'singles'.

I don't know why people are unhappy about the pop songs in the album.Taylor wanted to put some different sounds in the album and that's why she collaborated and worked with different producers.
If she would wanted the same SN like album she wouldn't have worked with so many different people and it's an risk which she openly admits and its not like the pop songs which are released are bad actually they are very good.

So as long as the music is good I don't how many pop songs she puts in the album cause I know alongwith with those pop songs she will surely contain some gems in it as always

The problem is not at the 'experimenting' part. People are CONFUSED with her decision to write generic, shite lyrics to sell it to the masses.

Pop or Dance song still can have great lyrics. What we got so far have been so mediocre compared to her previous stuffs. The Taylor that I fell in love on the first place cared SO much about the lyrics.

Difference is LP2 singles were actually good. And you can hear Taylor on them. They had something what the mainstream music at that time didn't With Red, I can't listen to that Taylor. It's more like anyone can sing them (except "Begin Again").

She has not lost ****. Save the meltdowns! Christ! Most of her county fans do not mind pop.

Disco- there wiil be great lyrics on the album tracks. I am sure. She just got the more generic ones out of the way. For a bigger effect.
