She was born there but moved to Kuwait and later SK at a young age.
Despite what all the sones like to say about Sunny being "American", she isn't really one as she has never lived there long enough and doesn't speak the language that well.
Only Jessica and Tiffany are the real "Americans". I do wonder how they keep their accents despite living in SK all that time though.
Yeah, but she was raised for almost her whole life in South Korea anyway, as far as I know.

Ah, I kinda figured she must've moved to SK at a young age, but still
And you don't just lose your accent when you speak another language for a long time, especially when you still regularly speak in your native language with a group member
Didn't Jessica and Krystal move to South Korea when they were really young too? Well not really young, but I remember reading that Jessica was scouted in a mall in South Korea when she was like 10/11, so I assumed she would have been that age when they moved?

Jessica was 11 and Krystal was 5. I have no idea how Krystal speaks such good English when she moved so young. Maybe they learned it at school?

Hmm, maybe it varies by person? Some of my family are French so I'm bilingual in UK English and French, both are like my native language, but when I stayed in Paris for 6 months last year, I remember having to speak English there one time after a few months and I sounded like Hyoyeon.
I know SM makes trainees do all kinds of lessons, but do they still study even after debut? They must do, because Seohyun and Taeyeon's skills in English and Japanese (especially Seo) have improved dramatically.

And during all this time, I'm writing with my broken English, when you could just do the translator
Krystal's parents turned down SM's first offer, as she was too young, but allowed Sica to sign the contract. She joined them later in 2006, so that explains why Krystal is so fluent/still has her accent. And yeah, they also went to Korea Kent like Deuces said. It's an international school.
Sunny was born in the OC, yeah, but moved to Kuwait, but then left for South Korea because of the Gulf War. It's known that she dislikes pyrotechnics because they kind of remind her of the bombs going off, which is really sad
Omg @ that Elvis Duran interview. I had to click off of it after like three minutes
Elvis: "So ya'll must be loaded from those kind of hits?"
Tiffany: "Well there's nine of us......."
Elvis: "Oh - so you split it up?"
Tiffany: *pause* "Well there's nine of us.... and we have such amazing fans... *pause*"
