It flopped because it sucked. Just some coins for Selena
I wouldn't say MC flopped. It's a pretty crappy movie but it more than doubled it's budget so it was a success.

Being on Disney is both a blessing and a curse.
Disney can make you into a huge star and is a great platform but it's hard to shake off the image that comes along with being a Disney star.
I think Selena is going to transition and get rid of her Disney image the best out of her peers and some of those who came before her.
Some of them try too hard and end up not being taken seriously and others never really break out of the mold. I think Selena is gonna do well with that.

I think it's more timing than anything. Like if Miley waited it out a little more for her CBT- era, it would have worked out better.
I'm glad Selena's the kind of person who won't take no as an answer and even though she knows that she's a Disney star and people are gonna label her that way, she still won't quit and keep trying to get roles that she knows they won't be easy to get. She's trying to surprise her audience other than going the predictable way.
And even tho I love her music, I'm happy she's more determined in her acting career cause let's be honest, that's where she'll shine the most. And if given the proper roles, she'll be huge.
