OK... Thanks, Nii
Most of the songs are really good, and I think the
melodies are really strong, almost bordering Taylor Swift territory. "Born To Die" is great, as is "Lucky Ones."
This is the first time that I hear "Video Games" in full and focusing on the musical elements of the song and the vocals. I don't like her vocals or her affectations. It feels so contrived, like she is forcing herself to sing in a certain way, possibly in order to sound deep. I think the critics will drag her to the pits for that.
Maybe if these songs were sung by a stronger vocalist, now we could have been talking about a great album.
As for the production value, there is this "holla" or a male scream in "Blue Jeans" that can be heard like in three tracks and I found so annoying. Completely unnecessary.
I don't want to be a party pooper, though, If Lana is your fave, then that's great, and it is cool to see all you enjoying yourselves. I am just voicing my opinion as a music listener. I normally listen to the albums multiple times before I give a review, but I don't see myself going back to this album.
