I think it has more to do with the general perception of pop/rock being dated (which is only partly true since it's about trends in music that changes from year to year). Kelly and P!nk are the biggest examples of that genre.

I think what I'm saying is that Thankful is one of Kelly's vastly different album in sound and material (although I realize that she wasn't into it, but was forced to by her label at the time) in comparison to her other ones, except My December which had a more angst rock feel to it, than pop.

Stronger just mixed and match from her previous albums with the emphasis being on raw vocals and overall concept cohesiveness (AIEW was a mess in this). The production wasn't as top notch as Breakaway, for example. It's solid, but the album had too many fillers. Kelly's writing is fairly average, with some exceptions like BoY.

"Stuff Like That There" is my favorite Idol performance from Kelly. But tbh Kelly was just a really good karaoke singer throughout the competition back then and then all of a sudden she tremendously grew as a natural singer/vocalist after the show. That's what I think anyway..

Pop music is predictable, so it shouldn't be a shock. But certain artists are just more so than others because they stick to one constant sound instead of reinventing the genre they were primarily known for. Oh well

I wouldn't really call that attacking but that thread was clearly flamebait. The only predictable thing for me when it comes to Kelly is her "boybashing songs" and her low budget videos

It was only party the thread but it was also the responses in the thread it self. People are quick to bash Pink and Kelly but in reality their faves are predictable as well

People are quick to bash them because they are amongst the most respected girls in the industry.

Just look at the Grammy's. Kelly scored two major category nominations and won Pop Vocal Album with really only one smash hit. Maroon 5 had like four smashes, Fun had 2 huge ones and Kelly still prevailed. That's rihspect respect within the industry right there.

I don't think Kelly is predictable. Or not more than majority of pop girls. Who expected her to release pop/rnb MKIA which is very different from everything she did in previous 9 years or so? Dark Side wasn't predictable as well. And so aren't Don't Rush, country MKIA, You Ain't Gonna Like This and maybe even Catch My Breath. I mean those aren't her typical songs. If she was predictable she would stick with songs like SUBG and MLWSWY, these are songs the fits the box she's always put in.
