I don't like Double Rainbow but both of these lyrics do make sense.
1) Double rainbows are parallel and are essentially side-by-side, face-to-face, eye-to-eye etc.
2) Another Kat figured out that lyric only sounds nonsensical because the phrasing is off, it should be:
"It was deafening loud, like lightning it was striking"
