No matter if she sells 200k and Sam only 150k because that won't change the fact that he's doing extremely well for a debut era. It's something you rarely see, someone debuting with such strong sales. Especially someone who the US public didn't know about until the last 3 months (and large parts still have to get to know him). Don't come with promo as JLo has lots of promo this week too.

People coming with Lana longevity need to be quiet as just wait two three months and talk then. BTD had and has longevity but because of the unique sound. I love Lana's album, prefer Sam's, as I recently posted in her album thread but her stans need to cool it down a bit. Losing against a newcomer would've been embarrassing, so her debuting at No.1 and with a healthy lead is nothing but an expected thing.

Truth. It is just a big thing for her fans that she gets that #1 because it will be the biggest FU to critics and haters who would never have expected in a million years she could recover from the beginning of the BTD and wrote her off as a failure. THAT'S why it is a big deal to them. I'm a fan, and also I think it would be a great accomplishment to do numbers like that with absolutely no promo, and just based all off a name.

She hasn't done any promo, though. At least not in the US.

Releasing 3 of the songs from your album early doesn't = DOING promotion. Her team isn't going overly hard on social media promo, either.

The fact of the matter is that Lana is doing next to no promo for this in the US at the moment. She's selling entirely off of her name, a little hype, & the quality of the music.

Sam is performing tonight on Letterman, is doing a signing tomorrow at Rough Trade in Brooklyn, did the Duran radio show, played a gig at Apollo, appeared in GMA, is doing a Billboard Hangout...am I forgetting something?

I'm so impressed by the effort he's putting into promoting his work. Moat popstars would break down having that tight schedule and you feel that he really wants it!

The fact that Sam has so much promo is something to be proud of, not ashamed. Other stars should be ashamed for being damn lazy.
