Country crooner Blake Shelton is often praised on The Voice for being involved in his contestants’ careers long after the cameras stop rolling. And the singer is especially connected with Season 3 winner, Cassadee Pope.

The two developed a strong friendship over the course of the season, and as Cassadee prepares her first post-Voice album, Blake’s there to help out as much as possible.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Blake last weekend at the NBC TCAs, where he was happy to talk about Cassadee’s upcoming music, and his involvement.

“Those are Cassadee's decisions to make, and she needs to be happy with them,” Blake said. “I don't have to navigate her through this competition anymore. She's set to do her career now, and she needs to do it how she wants to do it. I hope that I can still be involved as a friend, and I have been.”

So how do these two stay in touch with their busy schedules?

“Cassadee and I, we still text each other for 30 minutes, once a week, every week since the show's been over,” Blake revealed. “I think it’s been three weeks now, or four. We have those text messages that are like paragraphs. She tells me what she's been doing. What do you think about this? And I tell her what I would do.”

But Blake wants to make one thing very clear.

“I just want her to know that I don't have a dog in the hunt,” he said. “And what that means is that I don't ever want to make one dime off of her. I don't have any other interest in her other than I want her to be the best Cassadee she can be, and I really mean that from the bottom of my heart. I love the girl. I love her so much, and she knows that.”

Hm depends. If she releases it by the end of this month, or Mid February - have a few decent performances, and get a bit of promotion in I think it'll go Top 10. Anything else I'm worried. I think it'll go Top 30ish no matter what, and if its a good bop, maybe even #1.
