Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry has vowed that the show will end in a "very satisfying way".
The showrunner said that the Wisteria Lane favourites will not necessarily receive "happy endings" in the final ever episode on May 13, but will make fitting departures.
"I don't know about happy endings versus tragic endings," TV Line quotes him as saying. "But I want to make sure that we end the show in a very satisfying way for the fans, so the endings for the characters are going to make sense."
Cherry added that fans should expect deceased character and series narrator Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) to have a big influence in the finale.
"I would say that the odds of seeing [Mary Alice] on screen... are very high," he said. "[Her] commentary started the show, and her commentary will end it."
