I have a feeling that Malcolm Lee (Roll Bounce, Undercover Brother) has found his Anna Faris replacement for Scary Movie 5. It has now been confirmed that Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, Aliens In The Attic) has joined the cast in a leading role. No word on if she’s replacing Faris’ character or portraying a new one – but it seems likely to me that she’s filling the void either way.

David Zucker, who wrote and directed both Scary Movie 3 and 4, will also be returning to co-write and produce the fifth installment alongside Lee.

Bloody Disgusting had previously confirmed that Anthony Anderson (Scary Movie 3, Scary Movie 4, Scream 4), Regina Hall (Scary Movie 1-4) and Kevin Hart (Scary Movie 3, Scary Movie 4, Superhero Movie) would all star.Scary Movie 5 is the latest entry in the horror spoof franchise that kicked off in 2000 under the direction of the Wayans brothers, and grossed nearly $300 million worldwide. The film will spoof Black Swan, Paranormal Activity, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and 127 Hours.

Production is slated to begin this summer.

I loved Black Swan but I agree that it's not the right choice for the film.

I had my fingers crossed for a reunion movie where they all come back together but have it based around Scream 4's plot and characters.

The first Scary Movie was really neat and understandable with the whole Scream theme. I love the rest of the franchise but the last three are messes tbh. This is just The Weinstein Company trying to make a few extra dollars.

Just watched 'The Exorcist' last week.

Did anyone find it scary because I didn't find any of it scary - I thought it was more funny than scary. I thought is was supposed to be one of the scariest movies of all time?
