Jump In is interesting but after a while it drags 6/10

There were some duds but also some great music, overall, I can say I enjoyed the album.

I enjoyed the album. Definitely not good as her previous records, but it's still nice.

i think it's her most pop-ish record so far, but it doesn't bother me.

Stand-out tracks so far (it'll change probably as i listen to it more): Borders, Go off, Freedun. Foreign Friend (undeserved hate), Visa, Swords.

Most of her fans and the media are been harsh to her. AIM is not a bad album at all. The production quality is there, the lyrics are there as well. She didn't topped Arular and Matangi (her best albums), but it's far better than MAYA.

Arular > /\/\ /\ Y /\ = Kala > Matangi > AIM

AIM is still a solid 7/10 for me. It really does grow on you after you give it a few more chances, but it still doesn't touch her other albums overall.

Finally listened to it after hearing all the negativity from everywhere and it's a perfectly good album.
Nowhere near her best but still good. My biggest complaint is that the album sounds really tame sonically compared to what she released before. And the obvious fillers. Jump in,Survivors,Finally and Fly pirate (kinda) are poor excuses for songs especially from an artist with her abilities. Also, why are the bonus tracks better than many on the standard one.
Like how is Swords(!!) and Talk not on there??
The highs are incredible though. Bird song(Diplo) is one of the greatest things she's ever released.
I don't even have words for that flawless production.

I'm only familiar with Matangi and kind of liked that but also kind of didn't? It didn't feel aspiring and for someone with such grand visions and opinions as her I expected more.
I'm currently downloading this to see what it sounds like.

Upon further listens, I've decided that Bird Song is a career highlight in a way that the others aren't, Top 10 in her discography tbh. AMP and Platforms are close.

Jump In remains her worst track ever. Fly Pirate is annoying but it's sorta growing on me. The album isn't bad but it's not great. M.I.A. by the numbers. Not to say that doesn't yield some good songs, but the album as a whole is not fantastic. Lots of filler, but not many huge clunkers. Enough of a holdover until whenever she decides to release another album like the last two times.

/\/\/\Y/\ is a gigantic mess but it works and I'd consider it her best. Arular has many of her essential songs but when you remove the skits/filler there's not a whole lot there. Kala is like a more expansive Arular but it's less boppy. Matangi brings the bops but it's less ambitious.

This one is probably her most accessible record, so I am sure you will love it since your taste is great! Her best album is, as I and many just said, MAYA but its very experimental. It has to grow on you, you have to get it, you have to listen to it carefully. I am not surprised Matangi disappointed you, but that was all due to the harsh label politics.

Also y'all lets not forget the FLAWLESS Vicki Leekxx! A career highlight!

VL is great but a little overrated? And you shouldn't go into it expecting, y'know, actual songs. I don't really compare it to the real ones. PFT is lowkey better.
