Yes there are churches that do not mind marrying same sex couples and there will be more. My point was there might come a point where churches might be forced to do something against their wishes like what happened in Denmark.

I don't think the church should be in the marrying business as it relates to the state. I think we should just separate the institution of marriage as a whole from churches. They can do their spiritual ceremonies on their own without any sanctioning of the state and federal government.

Protestant churches work different I guess but Catholic churches have never married gay couples as far as I know, they even refuse to call it "marriage" as we'd say with straight couples.

But marriage is a contract anyway, who cares about churches.

We need a referendum for that, so it's going to take a while. I trust what happened in Ireland will happen here since youth are increasingly becoming more tolerant of LGBT.

The movement here is currently focused on employment, anti-discrimination rights, transgender rights, hate crimes, AIDS education and prevention and visibility to make people more tolerant. I think the recent wave of marriage wins is inspiring local activists to fight for civil unions.

One really great thing that happened recently was ProFamilia. a huge health organization with clinics all over the country, waiving the pride flag in some of them. The banner says "Sexual choice is a human right." They have always been on the forefront on the AIDS treatment/prevention/education, family planning and reproductive rights.

Only North Carolina can pick and choose (unfortunately), but if they choose not to give licenses to gays they must rescind ALL license duties.

Utah's government now wants to get rid of marriage altogether to avoid this Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas all proposed that and flopped in the end.

Mississippi's AG says that he's waiting for a lower court order. Since it's the only state not giving licenses at all he is feeling the pressure to say the least. I know he is a Democrat in a blood red state, but he should hurry up or he'll come out looking messy like Florida's Pam Bondi
