I gave SEVEN tens. This was a very easy round in my opinion to get a ten. This round had to basically make a song sound like it belonged to the singer and in effect 'owning' it.

Hence the number of tens given out.

I remember when you told me that you wanted to change the song but unfortunately half of us judges send their rates and this one is probably the weakest, karaoke cover.

I know I am supposed to support my team and not be too hard on them but I think I made it obvious this was not a good choice. It's not like Selena doesn't make it sound cool but "Royals" is the HIT song of the moment, it takes the challenge to a whole new level. Besides, the arrangement makes it sound very linear. Have you looked at the "dislike" bar of this video? It's scary. I think it's unfair but it should have an impact on your choice. I think you are in great danger of leaving, hopefully I am wrong. Birthday Cake (or that Iggy Work song) would have been such a better choice and since we are not considering fierceness here even her Dream cover would have been a way better choice. Hell! Even her Britney Spears tribute!!! You had EVERYTHING to succeed. This was really a risky, and not worth taking, song to choose.

This round wasn’t about fierceness; which is good because it wasn’t fierce. It was making it your own. Selena’s interpretation and delivery of the song felt bland and uninspiring. I heard more liveliness in the backing vocalists. It started off promising for like two seconds though.

If I could give this 20 out of ten I would. Unmistakeably, distinctly, undeniably Christina. It hurts to say this was THE best entry this round because I do love my team. But credit where credit is due. The first second you just know it’s Ms Aguilera. That is how you know a song is made your own. Sing for your life honey and you’ll be going straight to the final.

First of all, isn't a cover. Katy vocals were just a demo. You had Kelly Clarkson, an artist from American Idol. In which she covers other artists. I don't know what were your mentor and you thinking.

This one is hard to rate since the song was never really Katy's, she probably wrote it, recorded it for her but she never released it, so it isn't a cover, it's a Kelly original, it's hard to rate how Kelly made it sound her own if the song is hers. I'll be taking some points off BUT, on the other hand, this version slays Katy Perry's demo, the lyrics changing are definitely something that has an impact. I completely ADORE this song, I am so sorry about the rate.

Again this is like Christina. The artists with big voices are really luck this round because it is really easy to make it your own. The song not only sounds good but it’s that perfect rock/pop hybrid that is just sooo Kelly. A very good entry this round. I’m glad you listened to me!

Donna Summer and Madonna, two big icons! Madonna takes risks and she does it very well. I honestly dislike the song but I think Madonna made it her own with mixing it with another song and her version is way fiercer which is cool! The fact that she mixes it with other song it's annoying because I can't really judge the "cover" based solely on itself.

I need to stop giving so many tens. This just sounds so Madonna-esque and it fuses the perfect blend of the distinct Donna Summer classic with Madonna’s trademark Queen of Pop sound. Again well done for a good entry.

This song was such a massive hit in my country, it was impressive. I like that they added a more fast pace to the song but I am afraid they didn't make the song sound their own and they didn't even make justice to the song, principally vocally.

No this wasn’t the right entry. You had such a good advantage this round but this shouldn’t have been your choice. I gave you four because there’s five girls in the band (so 2 points for each girl). Sarah sounded really nasal, Cheryl didn’t make it her own and sounded as though she was imitating the song, and as much as I hate because I love Kimberley the most; she was flat! On the plus side I gave full two points for Nadine and Nicola. Nadine sang it really well and Nicola’s quirky voice made it her own when she sang her solo. I’m slightly disappointed with this entry because like I said, I know Girls Aloud have some good covers.

A very good song to cover because that backing track really compliments Sky’s vocals. You can hear the shrill in Sky’s voice and it just makes such a good combination with the techno almost antithetical brash but techno-y contrasting shrilled beat. I think this is a really good entry by Sky and Regina. Well played

Curious fact, Miley Cyrus made me dislike this song a lot with her version (I freaking love Miley though). That version was so annoying! The nice thing with this cover is that it is very close to the original and more than that I like the inclusion of that instrument (that is very popular in my country but I don't remember its name). I am very pleased listening to this and I am forgetting I started to dislike it. The instrument gives it an unique sound and of course the song is fierce and an anthem for girls. See? It's possible to have a good score if you really do good

The first song covered was so b o r i n g. I skipped it. It got a lot better with "No Scrubs" and wasn't as good in "Survivor", they didn't make the original justice. In three covers, one was great, one ok and other bad! I enjoyed the mix with Survivor and No Scrubs at the end.

RichGirlPlanet I am really envious you right now. Perfect entries for both contestants. The Saturdays completely made this a song you could see that they’d release. From the beginning of a typical Saturday song with Vanessa’s song and then the whole Survivor twist was amazing. Certainly one of my favourite bits of the song.
