"Erotica has three versions. The first is the album version, the one everyone knows. The second is "Erotic", made to accompany the Sex book. The third is the much different demo version, known as "You Thrill Me".
It was released as the lead single off
Erotica, causing controversy because of its sexually suggestive lyrics. The Vatican banned Madonna from entering there, as well as her songs and albums. However, it still manage to reach the Top 10 in many countries, peaking at #3 both at the US and the UK.
She performed it live twice: as the opening act of The Girlie Show Tour and in The Confessions Tour, using mostly elements of the demo version, "You Thrill Me", in a remix made by her and Stuart Price.
The video features Madonna as a dominatrix ("Dita", her alter-ego/character) and scenes from the making of the Sex book. Highly controversial, it was her second video to be banned from airing.
I don't know why, but I first intended to give this song a 10 - then a 9.5 - and finally I gave it a 9. But it's truly amazing and really sexy and sultry. Personal favorite.
