Why is the listening party June 10th? when the album comes out June 3rd?
Shouldn't it be June 3rd of before?

Because it's during CMA Fest and Nashville will be packed with country music fans from all over the country. It's the perfect time to do it

Cassadee Pope‘s Summer EP was a labor of love. While crafting the four-track project, which features three songs co-written by Pope, the singer was determined to find the very best songs — which made selecting those four included tunes “really hard.”
“I knew that I wanted “Alien” on there; that’s a song that I’ve had in my back pocket for quite some time,” Pope tells The Boot. “”Summer” was also a song I had written a while ago, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted that one or another one that was in the running.”
Summer‘s title track, in fact, was selected partially thanks to fellow country artist — and partner on the No. 1 duet “Think of You” — Chris Young, who weighed in on his favorites while he and Pope were on the road together.
“I started showing my favorite songs to all of my friends and family, and Chris Young and some other artists that I really confided in,” Pope notes, “and “Summer” was one of everybody’s favorites.”
Pope admits that, as she releases this EP and continues working on her upcoming sophomore album, she is focused on much more than simply recording fun, catchy tunes: She’s looking for an emotional connection through music.
“I was really proud of how well “Wasting All These Tears” did, just by how well it was received by fans. I got stories about how that song helped them through some difficult times,” Pope acknowledges. “I’m hoping the same thing happens with “Alien,” “Summer,” “Kisses at Airports” and “Piano.” I just think that these songs can really help people, whether they’re in a good or bad place, I think that they’re going to resonate.”
Cassadee on:
Quote:
'Summer'
"I wrote "Summer" with Kelly Archer and Emily Shackleton: We sat in a room and reminisced on summer loves that we had in the past, and how powerful and passionate it can feel at the time. Then, when you look back on it, it’s just a memory, and it’s still so vivid in your mind," Pope shares. "We wanted to write a song that was very colorful; the lyrics really tell a story. [The video is] very bold -- very daring ... Hope you’re ready! It was shot in Clearwater, Fla., which, you probably know, I’m from Florida, so it was very authentic and special for me to go down to my home state and do this video. It’s a departure from what I’ve done before."

"Piano"
"I co-wrote this with Laura Veltz and Jimmy Robbins. I remember the session, and all of us just kind of sitting around and talking about where we were as far as what we wanted to write that day, and all of us just landed on "Piano,"" Pope says. "I have to give it to Laura: She came in with, ‘You played me like a piano.’ That was totally Laura, [and] the three of us just grabbed on to that, because we completely understood what that meant, personally and career wise. We’ve all been through so many ups and downs.
"There have been people along the way, back in the day, that took me off the path and took me somewhere that I didn’t realize I was going, and I had to kind of stop myself and say, ‘Gosh, I can’t believe I let this person manipulate me and take me in this direction.' It's such a raw emotion behind the song," she continues. "You’ll hear that the lyrics are very conversational. We didn’t try and get too crazy as far as being poetic; we just sat there and were like, ‘Gosh, I’m a smart girl. I feel stupid for letting this person do this to me.’ These are lyrics that are actually in the song, so it’s raw emotion."

"Kisses at Airports"
"When I first heard it, I cried," Pope recalls. "I spend half of my life in an airport, so I automatically related to the lyric. I was thinking about how many half-hearted goodbyes I’ve given going to the airport, not thinking -- I know this sounds morbid, but -- ‘This plane I’m about to go on might not land,’ and that’s one of the lyrics to the song. You have to be grateful for every single day; you have to make sure the people you love know you love them and never take them for granted.
"The second verse was really my favorite part of the song, because it tips the hat to the men and women who serve our country, and how we all feel when we see them coming home or leaving," she continues. "The emotion is very powerful, and I’m sure we’ve all experienced that at airports. That’s just an emotion we can’t deny, so that’s what really reeled me in with this song."

"Alien"
"I wrote this with Ross Copperman and Jon Nite. I went into the session, and I went, ‘I’m on a Shania [Twain] kick right now. I’d love to write a sassy, fun, summery song,'" Pope remembers. "We started writing something, and we didn’t feel super connected to it, [so] I just started telling them about my life, where I come from and what I’ve done. I saw their eyes just open really wide, like, ‘We have to write a song about this.’
"I was a cheerleader, and I was in chorus. I won homecoming queen, but I had a band that played rock shows on the weekend. I was all over the place when it comes to what you’re supposed to stick with," she adds. "I loved it all, and I still do, so when I became an adult, and it was time to choose a path, and it was time to choose what I stood for, it was really hard for me, because I love everything. I have such an eclectic taste in things -- fashion, music, hobbies -- so I just hated being pressured into choosing something to be, so I wrote a song about, it’s okay to be all these different things. "Society makes us feel like we have to choose, but I hope when people hear this, they feel encouraged to be themselves -- all the weird aspects of themselves," Pope concludes. "I’m really proud of this one."

The way she sings "play me like a piano" reminds me of "I knew you were trouble"

Your early music career was varied. How did you arrive at your current style of country with a touch of rock and pop?
I actually sang country as a kid. So when I was 4 years old and started singing, it was country music. I covered Martina McBride, Faith Hill and Trisha Yearwood. So that was my upbringing, and then in middle school, I started getting into more of the rock stuff, like Blink 182, Foo Fighters, and even Avril Lavigne.
But I always listened to country. When I was 17, my main goal was to be in a band and travel the world. I ended up getting to do that with my old band Hey Monday. I got to see the world and learn how to tour, and the next thing I knew, I was on The Voice. So it was just a crazy, crazy ride.

That song is very Taylor Swift It's catchy as hell, though. I had it stuck in my head for days when I first heard it.
