Rihanna had nothing to do with Umbrella. Was she a writer? No. Was she a producer? No. She was a fan of the song and she recorded it. The record label came to her with the song and she liked it and she recorded it. It's a great song but apart from it being her biggest hit, it has very little to do with Rihanna. So yes, it and many of her hits are faceless hits. She has a good ear for hits though!
However she did write a few from Rated R like Rude Boy and Te Amo which aren't faceless at all.

Rihanna has and will have, for the next few years, the fame and the popularity, but she will never have an influence on music or pop culture.
