The OP asked who the most influential black female artist was, not who had the most impact on black music Don't get it twisted
Whitney for being the first true black female ICON, she was the first real real worldwide superstar and adored.
Janet for thriving in a white world with such a distinct sound and MESSAGE whew those messages against racism, misogyny and shaming women for their sexuality she really is #1 in that sense and nobody is coming CLOSE to her, ever since she paved the way and then
Mariah of course for bridging the world of pop and Hip-Hop so seamlessly and then moving to a very urban driven sound right at her peak
Why does Mariah have so many votes? Sure she's super successful but I don't think she's that impactful or influential.
