I think so, it's not like Anti where people were eager to get it, people will like it if it comes out, but not one besides her fans really care.

With an absolutely horrible sales condition, inability to make release gimmicks work again, and inability to score pop hits, the only thing I feel like she has now is a lot of media buzz and attention, and I can't see that translating to anything but one or two huge sales weeks.

You're comparing it to Anti though?
The album that was teased for a whole year? That had like 37 promo videos, 3 buzz singles + performances, etc. all resulting in people being really fed up and mad about it's delay?

uhhm, i love Rih. But we know damn well people were just confused and fed up with the whole campaign. Also Anti had a huge hype built up with all the singles videos, performances, the diary campaign but got fed up at one point. People (fans excluded) weren't eager anymore because they didn't even know what was going on after she dropped 4 songs in a span of 1 year.

Can you explain her inability to score pop hits?
If you look at the Billboard's Year End list of females for 2015, she was #9. That's top ten. And she hadn't released an album since 2013, only 1 song (7/11) in 2014.
Like, yes she is not getting the amount of hits she used to, but she's also not functioning as a popstar as she used to. Formation would have been a hit if it were even just released.

ANTI's roll-out was the worst I've ever seen.
I mean B6 lost a lot of hype for sure but nothing compares to what ANTI was 3 months ago, and I'm shocked that era has found success after all that massive mess of a release.

You have to add TIDAL to the equation, she has to sacrifice something there for the album.
IDK I just hope it doesn't risk the era for Beyonce the way it did for ANTI.

2015 was well known as the most tragically disappointing for pop females She could've been #3 and it wouldn't be surprising

umm "Pretty Hurts" and "XO" were pretty much Pitbull songs if Pitbull were a pop girl and they did not succeed
Her music is just as sales-chasing and repulsively commercial as Taylor and Katy, I'm really starting to doubt if we listen to the same Beyonce ..

This is one of these threads that will get bumped hard when the album's out.
Also, with everything that we know so far, this album doesn't need hype (which it by the way has, there were post from like 10 different outlets all over my FB timeline this week being thirsty for it to be released). This album will make headlines and be controversial for weeks on arrival, so who cares if in someone's opinion there currently is any hype or not.

There's not going to be hype before any news of the album
Once the lead single comes out or even a hint that it's the month beyonce is releasing, everybody will go crazy tbh.

Sure, it may have been a bad year for pop females but... so? You want to start making excuses for why everyone is doing well at their respective times or... what?
She still ranked higher than established hitmaker Rihanna who released and promoted 3 singles in the 2015 calendar year.
And PH and XO were not Pitbull level nor were they even given an ounce of promotion (except XO at the Brit awards when DIL was already peaking). Not to mention I meant "she's not functioning as a popstar as she used to" as far as her promo. She's not on Ellen, she's not promoing, she was incredibly silent that era.

Saying she's not functioning as a pop star in the same manner is completely and totally different from saying that she no longer makes any pop songs.

Right and then her album will drop and cause a frenzy and once again, you'll be wrong... For the 1000th time

Hell no. Because as soon as it drops, that hype will come right back.
