Those artists were never labeled as R&B; they don't even get play on urban stations, so Usher can take those comments and shove them.

So why does a artist like Jay Sean's own biography on his own official website (http://www.jaysean.com/biog.shtml), label him as Pop/R&B, ergo, solidifying his statement: "There’s a very fine line between what’s R&B and pop these days. Just because it’s sung by a male minority doesn’t mean you’re urban or R&B. Those artists are pop. The true value of R&B has been brought down."
And he is right. Labels are quick to try and categorize some of these new and young artists, in hopes they can somewhat appeal to the urban demographic.
So, I'll make this easy for you:

Yes, POP/R&B. Pop was mentioned first. And who cares? Usher classified himself as "a worldwide pop icon." Same thing can be said about his ass: If you sing a few pop songs, then that doesn't make him pop "icon." This has been going on for years. People have called Pop singers R&B since the 70s --- Everyone from Michael Jackson (his idol) to Janet Jackson to Whitney Houston to Mariah Carey to Justin Timberlake (who isn't even black) to Rihanna and so forth. This didn't just start with Jay Sean or Taio Cruz. It has been in effect for decades. The "true value of R&B has been brought down" for years by Usher's logic. Usher can get the -------> and you too.

As far as that "worldwide pop icon" statement goes, I'm still waiting to see a solid source of him stating that. Matter of fact, I wanna see it come out of his damn MOUTH. Until then, I'm not here for what forums and known unknown blogsites have to report.
Secondly, if you even REMOTELY appeal to mainstream in music, you can be considered Pop (i.e. Pop = mainstream). Usher has been R&B since the beginning of his career and has gone MAINSTREAM to boot.
Shoo, fly.

No, honey. That makes him a "crossover artist." Like so and so said, Usher needs to keep that fly shut because the same type of music Taio Cruz and Jay Sean are singing is the same type of music that saved his album from being a flop. Now back to the point at hand --- Taio Cruz and Jay Sean are not even played on Urban/R&B radio, so I don't see how they or their labels are trying to appeal to the Urban crowd. Usher's opinion is null and void.

OH HUN,
If Taio Cruz and Jay Sean are not played on Urban/R&B radio, why did "Break Your Heart" and "Down" go to the top spot on the UK R&B charts in 2009? Hmmmmmmmmmm?
You're still not seeming to grasp the fact that Usher is still an R&B artist, regardless of his mainstream success or whatever genre of music is he NOW experimenting with. So therefore, his opinion and/or truth is his own and somehow you'll manage to get the hell over it.
iLOL @ "the same type of music that saved his album from being a flop", when "OMG" is practically the only song on the album that can even be considered anything out of the norm for him.
In the words of Keys, "YOU SOUND STUPID, WHO THE **** TALKS THAT?"

LOL!
Girl bew!!!
Aren't they from the UK? Here, in the US, they are not played on Urban radio frequently. No one that I know refers to them as R&B. They can get away with that in their hometown, but not in the US. I don't see them on the Hip Hop/R&B Charts, which should indicate something. "OMG" saved that mainstream career of his. Otherwise, his ass would have been limited to those Urban hits like the rest of those 90s R&B stars.
"DJ Got Us Fallin In Love" sounds like a track Taio Cruz or Jay Sean rejected. Sounds like Usher is trying to get a taste of that juice they are sipping.

REGARDLESS of them being from the UK or not, Urban/R&B radio is the same no matter where you are in the world. If no one you know doesn't refer to them as R&B, then you must not know many people, because:
http://www.taiocruzmusic.co.uk/about.php
"From Carole King to Timbaland, and Pharrell Williams to Smokey Robinson, there's a great tradition of r'n'b songwriters and producers stepping out of the shadows to become stars in their own right. A new name is about to be added to that illustrious list, as a joint venture between Universal Records in the UK and Motown in the US presents Taio Cruz."
iLOL @ his official website shittin' on you!
"OMG" has R&B tones to it, so as far as it being strictly Pop, you need to open your ears.

I won't continue to debate with an obvious stan. Ushercules? The ****?
Oh, and this song is wack and like I said earlier, it sounds like something Taio Cruz rejected. I guess that equals hit.

Not to mention, Ush is just going along with the times. What strict R&B artist IS having mainstream success these days? Alicia Keys? She's had a top ten from every album up until TEOF. Why do you think that is? Could it be R&B is not what the consumers are checkin' for right about now?

It's in your best interest not to debate because I will drag you and your failed logic by the scalp all over this thread.
Oh and I'm not here for your OPINIONS that are NULL AND VOID. If you don't like it, then use them feet to move gravel. Clearly other people are loving the song, one little peasant don't matter.

Chile boo.
You wouldn't drag a damn thang on this board. I would drag that ass (and Usher's) up and down the chats, but I won't do it. I already got 5 warning points from snatching some of these cry babies' wigs on this board.

You are such a troll
Are you scared of something or what?
Leave this thread alone.
Its crazy how these haters are wasting time on Usher threads.I'm confused...
How can we ban him from this thread so we can enjoy Usher's success alone and quietly.I'm really getting tired of these trolls.
