No one in real life is doing it,just bloggers or critics so high on their own ego that can't have fun Yeah, the show isn't the greatest comedy ever, but it's entertaining
And this bit in the article bugs me a lot
Quote:
To complain about the racial aspects of Ryan Murphy’s television shows is to miss the point entirely. From the still-running American Horror Story to the late Glee and The New Normal, the showrunner’s projects all put forth a with-it liberal sensibility in which line-crossing cracks about nonwhite (or handicapped, or gay, or…) people are proof of subversive wit. But it’s the muddledness of Scream Queens. It tends to get forgiven because the Murphy sensibility is so baked into shows that are so confident in what they are doing; Glee paired wild insensitivity with a love-yourself message so confidently one had to go along or stop watching.

I blame gay male writers and gay male directors who keep pedaling this "Mean Girls" shtick on television. It's not novel anymore. It's old and only stupid tweens who like Fifth Harmony and Ariana Grande like that rehashed "Mean Girls" comedy s***. What a waste of talents like Jamie Lee Curtis, Keke Palmer, and Niecy Nash.

Worst of all is what’s done to Niecy Nash, this year an Emmy nominee for her role on Getting On. Nash gets to appear as a loud, stupid, and lazy security guard. “You cannot win an Emmy for a role that isn’t there,” Viola Davis said at this year’s ceremony; nor is an actress likely to triumph over anything beyond the obstacles Murphy creates for her.
|
Even though so many LOVED Niecy Nash on the show and thought her character was a highlight. These pretentious reviews are removed from reality and are dripping with distain for no reason. The show was funny, it was camp. It serves its purpose.

So far everything that isn't Empire is flopping on Fox, so Scream Queen will get a renewal if they stay consistent.

Of COURSE it's a terrible show. TIME is right (as always!)
It's a messy show full of silly pop-culture fan fiction (so stupid that you'd think someone in SYG wrote the script)
Glad it's flopping
Ryan Murphy is no Shonda Rimes, CLEARLY

This will be Maleficent 2.0 for Vin, bookmark me

But Mal debuted with $69 mil at #1.

Why tho?
Can't you simply just not watch? Its pathetic to actually wish the downfall of something just cuz you don't enjoy it.
And @ Shonda Rhimes being your threshold for quality.

Here's a good review of the show by EW
Quote:
Scream Queens isn’t for everyone. Some will find it too sadistic or too campy or unfairly dismissive of Millenials. But for me, its critique extends to viewers of all ages. “My shrink says these kids are the most messed-up of any generation they’ve seen because their parents made life so easy for them,” says the sorority’s attorney Gigi (Nasim Pedrad). “It’s like they can’t handle adversity.” Sometimes I worry about that same weakness with viewers, too. We can’t handle adversity. We want our messages served up in a tidy PSA message. We don’t want to work too hard to figure out why a show might makes us feel uncomfortable feelings. Scream Queens is flawed, but it’s worth watching, simply because there’s nothing easy about it. The casual brutality takes just as much work to think about as it does to watch.

The fact that she got nominted for an Emmy thanks to Ryan Murphy says otherwise though, if it wasn't for Murphy noone would'e heard of her and she wouldn't get nominated for a show noone watches.
Anyway the media is so scared to be labeled as racists so they are afraid to admit this show is actually really funny. Just like they were afraid to admit Taylor Swift was right when the Nicki beef happened. People need to learn not everything is racist, Chanel comes from a Republican family so her behaviour is appropriate even if you just look at the presidential candidates from that party.

What? Her performance on "Getting On" was deserving of a nomination because she took herself out of what she typically does and excelled at it. Ryan Murphy had nothing to do with that. She was nominated way before her name was announced for Scream Queens too.

This show is not funny or clever though. That's its main downfall.
You can get away with offensive humor and pushing the envelope if it's still done in a cool, thought-provoking way.
This is just cheap and dated and corny. The show POPULAR from the WB days was like this, minus the slasher horror.
Edit: Popular was actually better, because there was nothing like it done at the time. This was pre-Mean Girls.
If it is really as good as all of you claim it is, then it will survive and become a hit.
The promo campaign was better than the premiere episode, and that's a problem. Straight up.

"Meta Horror" can still be good or bad. "Scream" is meta horror that is smart, thought-provoking, and not try-hard.
"Scream Queens" is meta horror that tries way too hard to be hip and edgy with its "edgy" jokes.
"Scream Queens" is like the the Miley Cyrus of tv series:
all fluff and no substance, i.e. "Let's just be 'edgy,' just 'cause, guys."
Seriously, who falls for that type of "Scream Queen" writing, besides mindless idiots? Just asking.

That's like saying everything that flops is automatically bad and everything that's a hit is automatically good.
Not every show becomes a hit, no matter the quality. Lots of cult classics were flops.

i'm not so sure about that...niecy nash is pretty well known.
is it just me or did her character in SQ seem like a homage to her character in reno 911

The difference being that I'm a member on a forum, not a
