I think people care less about their feet because it's among the least exposed parts of our body. But it's actually recommended to be barefoot once in a while. Walking in slippers and shoes have an effect on not only your foot, but also your calves. Sure, most of us don't feel the effect that shoes / slippers have on our feet, but it's a fact that they trigger the nerves and joints. Being barefoot make your feet regain its normal composure and after being in a shoe or slipper for too long, you may want to let them 'breathe' a little. If you wear shoes all day at school / work, I'd advise you to go barefoot at home because wearing a slipper right after having worn a shoe adds to the stress. In the long run, this may cause problems if you don't loosen up as much as you confine them into shoes.
