Women being successful, educated and having jobs doesn't necessarily equate to gender equality. India has disproportional number of female CEOs and politicians compared to the rest of the world, but that's not the reality for all women. Asia has made a lot of progress, especially richer countries like Japan and South Korea, but patriarchy still dominates. Then again, that's an issue everywhere so it's not just an Asian thing. The only difference is that quiet, shy and innocent are still valued traits. Being loud and overly extroverted is strange.
In any case, she obviously means that not all Asian women (and even men) fit under that desired mold and she wants those people to be okay with being themselves and not fitting that role.
