Mess, racists trying to deflect and delegitimize important issues affecting queer people of colour. Run along!

You have to address the influence of racism and how it feeds into homophobia.
Racism marginalizes minorities. This restricts their access to higher education. I think there's already been a demonstrated link between lack of education and increased homophobia as education (hopefully) helps people realize the immoral nature of homophobia.
Thus of course your more likely to find homophobia in the black and latino communities because they aren't being given the same education opportunities that typical helps combat this antiquated mentality.
The two are linked, and I think the next step forward for the community now that marriage equality has been achieved is to begin addressing these issues of racism, transphobia and bierasure that has taken root with a community that is supposed to be known for it's tolerance and respect for others.

I agree for several reasons.
First of all, I have witnessed it many times that when a white guy is dating an Asian or Black guy he is often described as having an "awful fetish" or a "weirdo". Sometimes, fellow gays even try to convince him to date more "native gays". Seen it so often over years, it sucks.
Secondly, when you watch gay adult movies, you often see black men as being in jail and being macho and you know what they do to the white guy who is sharing his cell.
Sexualisied racism is quite common. It fills out a niché in the gay community. And yes, magazines and posters for pride rarely ever show men of different colour on them. It's like they do not exist.
The gay community also rarely talks about the topic, because it exposes the community as conservative and backwards-thinking. Something we rather not want to be associated with, but in truth, during the time when gays and lesbians fought for marriage equality or acceptence. they have completly ignored people of colour and immigrants.

What about the bisexuals with "trans only". Are you OFFENDED by this?
Oh no, you see this positively because they're a minority group. But "no fems" is somewhat offensive. Aww.

I only hang around with masculine one's ( I say masculine but I mean the gays that don't scream gay (In a non offensive way) One time I went to a club and some of them can be so mean to staff members and even other people in the club.

Yea they were, and the one that was being even more racist was the super fem One. It's like he was truly disgusted by her existence. It really bothered me.
I told them that I couldn't understand their mentality, because being gay is already hard enough why descriminte someone else when you yourself get hate on a daily basis.

I agree with this completely. Also I personally find drag queens to be quite rude it just annoys me because I've watched a documentary or something before and they excuse the rudeness on being an "act" "it's showbiz" (Obviously this doesn't count towards all drag queens)

However, people expecting the world to be entirely devoid of racism are delusional. Don't let the few racists represent the whole community.

Sis like the rest of the world, the community is infected with racist habits and "preferences". Just because it's there doesn't mean you should tolerate it

This.
I don't think the problem is anything to do with the gay community though. I think it's just down to the racism in society.

Exactly what I don't understand..I've asked that question to them before as well, and they can't even answer it. It's the reason I don't really have gay friends.

that's not the same thing and you know it, cis people aren't routinely excluded like trans people are.

I think it's because white gays as a group are so self centered to the point where the LGBT movement seems more like the gay white man's cause. Blacks, Latinos, Asains are always disregarded and in an unspoken way are ostracized by white gays. And when they aren't ostracized it feels like they're being fetishized based on a stereotype. The impact on preferences is truly tragic as you have non white gays preferring to be with a white gay over their own race/ethnicity or another minority. If you're white in the gay community you already have more opportunities for finding love, acceptances etc. I wish it wasn't this way but if we're being real it is.

THIS bit!!!
We just want to a fair chance at finding love

Discriminate? You don't wanna **** them, dear. It's not like you want them to die.

I'm saying I've never experienced racism from the LGBTQ community. No one here will want to believe me because it doesn't align with the idea presented in the OP. However, I'm saying there will always be racism and I'd rather spend my life with people that will love and affirm who I am rather than those who will detract from it. I'm too damn lazy to care about what some racist has to think about me, because it's never been a prominent issue for me. And I live in a southern state.

But you'd think that a struggling community wanting acceptance and equality would be able to move beyond issues like that

Don't undermine a serious issue by shrugging it off as a 'tumblr moment'. You'll never be educated on any social issues with this attitude.

I think most of this crap would be solved if the gay community actually interacted with other groups instead of using their community as home and never coming outside in the real world. The majority are clearly not aware that every group of people has its likes and dislikes, no matter race, religion, creed or colour. Africans don't like Jamaicans, twinks don't like old men, light skin male prefers dark skin woman, women don't like aggressive and rude men with ginger hair. I mean, ****. It's what makes us human. Nobody but a HANDFUL actually HATES anyone, thinks they're superior and wants them to DIE.
Be blessed.

Why are people in this thread trying to say 'Preferences' is racism? If I'm not attracted to people who look a certain way, am I considering them inferior or not equals to me?
Not really, no.

whether the issue is their or not is not based on one person's experience and whether you have experienced it or not should not change anything. Not everyone will have a first hand experience of this racism in the LGBT community but it doesn't mean that it's still not visible. Their are different aspects that you can't experience and you have to open your eyes and see for yourself
