I don't think it is correct to say Girl Groups being sexy don't sell. Girls Aloud were far more popular in the UK than Little Mix have ever been. And they clearly used sex appeal. Same with The Saturdays. Before them we had Mis-Teeq, All Saints etc.
If Little Mix want to dress and dance more modestly then fair enough. Good luck to them.
I think they want to take on the sugababes route. I mean the babes were sexy at times (especially at the end) but most of their discography was not

This is ironic because the reason Fifth Harmony are more successful worldwide as of now (obviously Little Mix has had bigger success in the past) is because of how reachable they are. They seem more realistic to their target audience, while many people find Little Mix to be quite the opposite.
