Has any artist actually sold more albums than them since they debuted? Surely there has to be but I can't think of one right now Not to mention their huge tour grosses. Legends! Plus they have flawless taste and take inspiration from amazing music
If sales and tour gross makes a legend, then Backstreet Boys are the biggest legends of the last 20 years
I can see why some people are seething in here though. Their faves could only wish in their lifetimes to deliver not one but two masterpieces like A Rush of Blood To The Head and Viva La Vida And Death To All His Friends. Some bands would kill to make a career out of one of those albums.

Sorry but it looks like you don't actually have anything to argue what I said. I mean all legends have huge sales, it's definitely part of the criteria. So since we've established they have that requirement of legend status down care to explain what they're missing?
Coldplay is not even rock, like literally the only people who consider their songs "rock" are pop music fans.
They are and many music publications agree. Being popular or doing pop music later on their career does not take away the fact that they did rock music

the sales definitely help but they're not the decisive factor and the biggest argument i'm seeing for coldplay's case is that they're the most successful in terms of quantity
