Chandelier and I Know Places are my favorites from the categories but I doubt they will win
130 close calls even with a top 200 you really did listen to a lot of music this year.

I’m here. Glad you’re still doing a Best of. I always like your countdown.
Almost: Well, my take in music for 2014 was the opposite of yours. I loved the music this year, but I listen less compared to 2013. 136 in the almost. At most, I’m in the process of cutting just 55 songs out of both my top 200 and the on deck. Some of it are recurrents that made my top 200 last year along with others that were recurrents, but never appear in my main countdown. It’s hard since I like the music a lot. I liked about 400 songs, but only 355 made it to the list of songs in 2014 of my new outline. Enough talking about something that I will address late in my own thread, time to just name my favs since there’s too many songs. My favs are World Crimes, Heroes (We Could Be), John Doe, Medicine , The Mother We Share, Magic, Blame it on Me, Ugly Heart, If I Could Change Your Mind, My song 5, Black Widow, Until it’s Gone, I Bet MY Warriors, Say You Love Me, Play it again, In Your arms, Medicine, Wasted, 2 ON, Not on Drugs and Stay High All the time to keep you out of my mind.
Good stuff. Can’t wait to see what did made it to the top 200.

 | 200. Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down (---/Peak:37) | [37-39] | (1 of 1)
We start the 2014 list with Rita Ora. I liked this song the moment I heard it but my level of liking remained stationary and although it is a bop, it didn't really do well for me. | | 199. Gavin DeGraw - Best I Ever Had (1 Week/Peak:24) | [24-32] | (2013: #74) | (1 of 2)
Barely making it this year is this 2013 leftover. It scored pretty high in last year's chart and still made its way this year despite the lack of listens. It's a really great and catchy song worthy of another mention. | | 198. Ellie Goulding - Goodness Gracious (---/Peak:34) | [37-34-40-39] | (1 of 3)
Much like IWNLYD, my level of liking to this song remained stationary all throughout and although the EDM vibe is really good, I was kinda looking for something more from Ellie. Really fun song to party to tho. | | 197. American Authors - Believer (---/Peak:34) | [40-34-36] | (1 of 2)
Unlike BDOML, this one took a while to grow on me, and after it did, it faded away once again. The only thing memorable about this song for me is that it was my first 4-chair turn on the The Voice app. | | 196. Austin Mahone - Mmm Yeah (f/ Pitbull) (---/Peak:35) | [35-35-35] | (Austin: 1 of 1, Pit: 1 of 2)
One of my biggest guilty pleasures this year. It has a nice chorus that I just love to dance along with, but that's all. Nothing else is special. | | 195. The Vamps - Wild Heart (---/Peak:39) | [39] | (1 of 3)
After hearing CWD, I was expecting a lot from this band. This song is one of their best, I know, but I don't really connect to it as much as their other songs. Anyway, after one listen to the album, I realized they were just a typical boy band and I ended up giving up on them. There are two more to come from them though. | | 194. One Direction - Midnight Memories (5 Weeks/Peak:16) | [40-38-38-40-27-16-22-24-30-37]|(1 of 4)
The biggest disappointment of the year for me tbh. The album is a good one but this song was/is forgettable. I get why they chose this as a single but I just wasn't supportive of the idea because I don't feel the song. I think I only let it chart for 1 week (back when my c/d was still top 20) just coz it was a 1D song. A cute bop tho. | | 193. Ashley Tisdale - You're Always Here (1 Week/Peak:30) | [33-30-38-40] | (1 of 1)
This song deserved a better treatment tbh. It is a cute song with a cute message and Ashley's voice sounded really good here. Ironically tho, for such an adorable song, its beat reminds me so much of Demons by Imagine Dragons. | | 192. Lindsey Stirling - Shatter Me (f/ Lzzy Hale) (---/Peak:33) | [33-36-38] | (Lind: 1 of 2, Lzzy: 1 of 1)
This song might've charted in my countdown if I wasn't in love with so many songs at the time. Sad because Lindsey did a really great performance here, as always. And I never heard of Lzzy Hale before this one but when I have the time, I want to try listening to her more. | | 191. Alex & Sierra - Scarecrow (---/---) | (1 of 1)
How did this never chart in my countdown? Like ever? Even in the on deck? This is a good song tbh and I sing along with it all the time, but it lacks something that I just can't put my finger on. Still, I don't know why this didn't enter my top 40. | | 190. Lady Antebellum - Bartender (---/Peak:33) | [38-33-39] | (1 of 1)
I was expecting more from Lady Antebellum this era. I mean this song is great, it is catchy and what not, no doubt about that. Still, I find myself struggling and forcing myself to like this song. | | 189. Foxes - Holding Onto Heaven (---/Peak:32) | [34-33-38-32] | (1 of 2)
After a great start in 2014 with Clarity and Youth, Foxes was bound to become one of my new favorite artists. But somewhere along the way, she lost me. LGFT is a great song and you will see it here soon, but this one kinda fell flat. Very nice video tho, she's always great at that. | | 188. Eminem - Guts Over Fear (f/ Sia) (---/Peak:32) | [37-39-38-32-33-32] | (Em: 1 of 4, Sia: 1 of 2)
One of my favorite artists last year, Eminem continued his streak in 2014 with releases from his last album and new releases from the Shady XV compilation. This song is his second collabo with Sia after Beautiful Pain, one of the highlights in MMLP2. I must admit I like BP more than this but this has a beautiful message and of course Sia's amazing vocals. | | 187. A Great Big World - I Really Want It (---/Peak:37) | [37] | (1 of 3)
I've loved A Great Big World ever since Say Something and after I found out that This Is The New Year and Rockstar from Glee are their songs. And then I heard this one and it just made me love them even more. Though I find this weak compared to the others, it's still a really cute song. | | 186. Mayday Parade - Ghosts (---/Peak:36) | [36-39] | (1 of 1)
Loved this song ever since it was released but Mayday Parade has had better songs from their discography. Still, it's a really good song that gets me rocking out every time. | | 185. R5 - (I Can't) Forget About You (4 Weeks/Peak:21) | [27-21-25-28-34] | (1 of 1)
This year may have been the year of the boybands. 5SOS, 1D, Rixton, The Vamps, this and more. Honestly, this song is a jam but R5 is probably the most forgettable boyband among the rest and this one didn't really stick around. Still better than The Vamps' latest releases tho. | | 184. KONGOS - Come With Me Now (---/Peak:37) | [37] | (1 of 1)
I don't know if I was too hard on this song or not based on its chart performance. I don't really remember how I felt about it when it was first released but I really don't care about it as much as of the moment. | | 183. Owl City - Wolf Bite (---/Peak:32) | [40-33-32-36-35-35] | (1 of 2)
Oh well, Owl City has definitely gone downhill. This song is good and has the typical Owl City nostalgic vibe but I think I'm pretty much over it now. | | 182. Mariah Carey - You're Mine (Eternal) (f/ Trey Songz) (---/Peak:40) | [40] | (1 of 1 for both)
Now for this song, I know I was being too hard. I mean I didn't even let it chart for more than a week although I know that I really enjoy this song. The remix featuring Trey Songz is better than the original tho. | | 181. The Madden Brothers - We Are Done (3 Weeks/Peak:26) | [32-28-26-29-36] | (1 of 1)
Closing this set is Good Charlotte The Madden Brothers. This is really different to the songs you usually hear from GC but it was a nice comeback. Hope they release more. |
