I've been saying it since 2010. She's the least genuine pop star I think I've ever seen.

I don't see how anybody could buy it. If my fave did that I would STAHP everything to do with her. I'd probably show up at her house and READ her. Or at least message her on her Facebook account

She is talking about the pop INDUSTRY, not pop music. She is saying the INDUSTRY that controls pop music is very superficial and fake and she wants to go against that. I commend her for being brave enough to do so since the others are just going with the flow without calling out the misogyny, ageism, etc. that happens within the pop INDUSTRY.

Similar to her comments about critics, whose opinion mattered to her, but only when they gave positive reviews etc... We know how hypocritical and contradictory she is, its nothing new.

How do you think she goes against it?

I mean, it's all well and good to say that she goes against it but what in her work exactly goes against the grain of pop music? What is she doing that's breaking the boundaries of pop music and the superficial nonsense that surrounds the industry?

For example some artists have given out their albums for free and chosen not to chart because they dislike the concept of pop.

Some artists decide to only play small intimate theatres giving up the hundreds of thousands (or millions) they would make to go against the norm in pop and provide an intimate show for their fans.

If she did mean it the way you said she said, you'd be able to provide examples in her work that go against generic concept of "pop" right?

The fact that you and others members of a certain fanbase are all grown adults and still don't understand the concept of someone growing and changing their mind about something, is so beyond my realm of comprehension. Of course when you're on top and people love you things are easy. It's when you begin to fall that the label heads step in and try to control you even more. That resulted in Gaga wanting to reject all of that. There is nothing contradictory or hypocritical about that.

Well why should she be bashed for that? For being human? For possibly being hurt about the backlash she's received? The ARTPOP era obviously wasn't the easiest for her.
