The 2009 BET Awards is already the biggest awards show of the year with Jamie Foxx hosting and performances from Beyonce, Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Maxwell and The-Dream. So how can it get even bigger?
Jay-Z.
With Shawn Corey Carter announcing that his highly-anticipated "Blueprint 3" album is on its way, his surprise appearance at Summer Jam and the recently released “Death of Auto-Tune” making waves throughout the industry, it is only appropriate that Jay-Z grace the stage at the 2009 BET Awards.
Having been nominated for a BET Award 15 times as well as collecting awards for “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist” in 2001 and 2004, and “Best Collaboration” with Beyonce for “Crazy In Love” also in 2004, it may surprise some that Hov hasn’t performed at the BET Awards since his duet with Beyonce five years ago. But with a new album on the way, what better time for the Brooklyn MC to make his comeback to the game than now?
The addition of Jay-Z proves that this will be hands down the awards show of the year.
In no way, shape or fashion should you consider missing the BET Awards.
The 2009 BET Awards will air live from Los Angeles, Calif., on Sunday, June 28 on BET at 8 p.m./7C.
It wouldn’t be an awards show without some form of divine inspiration; whether a diamond cross draped on the neck of a rapper, or an acceptance speech thanking God. But rarely is gospel music celebrated and televised live during an awards show.
The BET Awards isn’t just any awards show.
Mary Mary has just been announced as the next artists to join the star-studded lineup of performers at this year’s BET Awards.
The two-time Grammy Award-winning gospel music duo, consisting of sisters Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell, will join Jay-Z, Soulja Boy, Maxwell, Ne-Yo, Beyoncé, Kanye West and The-Dream as performers on the biggest night in entertainment.
Nominated for a BET Award eight times – including this year in the Best Gospel Artist category – Mary Mary will look to bring the house down with their amazing and unique brand of contemporary gospel. Their latest album, “The Sound,” is RIAA certified Gold and was the top gospel album on the charts.
With the duo’s tantalizing vocals set to blow you away, how could you possibly afford to miss this year’s monster awards show?
The answer is quite simple – you can’t.
The 2009 BET Awards will air live from Los Angeles, Calif., on Sunday, June 28 on BET at 8 p.m./7C.
Mary Mary can't wait. And has anyone seen Day 26 trying to get people to sign a Twitter petition saying they should perform inside the BET awards. I like Day26 and all but they suck live! Vocally their usually off point and their dancing has come a long way but it still sucky two step moves. Stick to the outside guys
