Fun fact: Single Ladies, a huge song in Pop culture and Pop radio was an Urban single.
Just like XO/Drunk, she did a double release with Boy/SingleLadies, both times the Urban singles won. So she stopped trying so hard and is now making her best music without caring about Pop.

Her urban songs did relatively well on pop radio and her "pop" singles aren't something that would go high on this format. She can release a song that woud be a hit on pop radio and she can have a huge pop support if she wants to. But i guess she doesn't care.

like? i think its just a defensive technique to excuse her poor showing in the last few years.

Yes. In case you didn't know, labels are the one who are supposed to promote songs to radios, book tv promo spots etc... Labels also take 50% of the profits a single makes. It is their job. If you want to be more educated about this, I'll give you a link to read about it.
