she's had FIVE "massive" eras altogether. I don't care when her last one was, that's more than most of the girls listed.
Idk about that. BOMT OIDIA are the only MASSIVE eras she has had. Britney was pretty big but it was like a 70% decline in sales In the U.S. So really shes had two massive eras which is to be commended.
Destiny's Child receipts are brought up in every 'Beyoncé album sales' debate. Those sales are from "almost 20 years ago" too.
But the thing is, you never see Bey fans saying "Hahaha X artist has yet to outsell DC!!1!!" like you do with Britney fans and her older albums. Why would DC albums sales not be included when talking about the amount of albums sold in her career? Nobody is saying you can't claim the album sales, but it's the constant comparing to albums/artists releasing in extremely different climates.
Hold It Against Me is widely forgotten and Scream & Shout ain't much memorable either...
Your opinion, not a fact
Scream and Shout is still charting very very well. TTWE was a bonfide hit and Vegas has landed her in the top 50 worldwide tours and top 20 in the u.s. despite staying in Vegas and the much smaller audience she plays to

There's more to the world than the U.S... I know you're not attacking her but I mean Britney and ITZ spawned WW*#1s such as Slave, MATM and Toxic...
Sis. You chose to jump on superpower for saying "almost 20 years", when the rest of his statement was factual. So the "logic" was used to distract away from the initial comment.
Bragging about 2010 receipts >>> bragging about 2001 receipts. And regarding Gaga, she isn't in her peak, yet she is still riding high from it (as evidenced by her successful 2014 world tour).
And as for Bey, there is no need to brag of her decade-old receipts since she's outselling everyone in the OP in 2014.

Britney wasn't local, her sales were strong worldwide for 5 albums straight. Record sales on the whole were declining dramatically after 2000, so it's only logical that her overall sales would follow suit. You'd have a hard time naming a successful singer who's sales didn't decline in that period.

I can't ignore blatant exaggeration used just to make the situation seem worse/more pathetic.
I acknowledge some Britney fans hark back to the past too much but it's not like it's 30 years ago

Britney's had a hugely successful career and everyone and their god-damn mother knows it. She was the first ever bonafied pop-star. Ever, she was the blueprint for next decade... that's pretty threatening for any fan-base.
But here's the downside. The Britney that we had back in 2002, isn't the Britney we have now, not by a long-shot... and everyone and their god-damn mother knows it. It's painfully obvious Britney isn't going to do anything massive ever again, and frankly I don't think she wants to either... she's happy with the residency and selling a few albums here and there. But the BRITNEY brand, the empire... has gone, and it's not coming back.
The pop-girls you mentioned, Beyoncé, Gaga, Xtina, Rihanna... still (for the most part) have the passion and want to be great, and their brands are still very much alive. Britney's relying on nostalgia... and that's not going to sustain a career, sadly.
But by all means, think fondly of the Britney that once was, because SHE was beyond stellar.
