Good 4 her! I'm glad she left they were just another label that wanted 2 use her name for their own gain and gave up on her once they chose RWU as the 2nd single which was obviously gonna flop. Mariah should leave too! I get that Nick was part of the problem but they gave up on her too once IBLULT flopped they probably chose it as a single too. Idk why this label can handle Mariah and Janet but yet greatly handle Rihanna? I love her 2 but the way that she is handled compared 2 them is like they r on different labels.

Damita Jo was received poorly by both fans and critics alike and she only sold 1 million of it because of the momentum behind her. She had maybe 3 decent tracks on it and the rest was smutty garbage, and stop blaming the radio or the labels for Janet's subpar material please.
I still buy Alanis Morissette albums even though no one else does, I'm not going to start blaming anyone else for her poor cd sales when I know the blame rests primarily with her. Don't follow Janet in such a blind faith that you can't discern good music from bad music please.

You can't deny the fact that radio backlisted Janet Jackson after the superbowl, as did MTV. Deny that, and your comment loses all validity.
And I'm pretty sure Damita Jo pushed around 3,000,000 copies in it's short lifetime as a relevant album. BTW, 'DJ' was a good album, if you think '20 Y.O.' is better, please get professional help for yourself! LOL!
Janet's material however hasn't had a slump in my opinion besides with '20 Y.O.', everything else has been fine, and 'Discipline' despite having some filler, is a step in the right direction.
And who's blaming the labels/radio for her material? That's not even come up in the argument, I'm blaming them for subpar play and promotion. ![confused](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/confused.gif)

Fail. Billboard just confirmed in their "Ask Billboard" column last weekend that "Damita Jo" has only sold 1 mil. I love Janet, but there's no denying she had 3 albums flops in a row.

JANET'S SLIP
Hi Keith,
I'm a huge Janet Jackson fan and I love her new album "Discipline." It seems to have fallen off the charts pretty quickly just like her last album "20 Y.O."
I was hoping you could tell me what the current sales for her last three albums that would be great, thanks.
Rory Dornan
Hello Rory,
Yes, Janet Jackson's "Discipline" did slip off the Billboard 200 albums chart rather fast. It spent 14 weeks on the list. Her previous set, 2006's "20 Y.O.," spent 15 weeks on the list. The one before that, 2004's "Damita Jo," didn't do much better, as it spent 19 weeks on the tally.
Those three albums all immediately followed "All For You," which spent a comparatively healthy 52 weeks on the chart.
Thus far, "Discipline" has sold 415,000 in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan. "20 Y.O." has shifted 653,000 and "Damita Jo" has moved 1 million. Meanwhile, "All For You" is up to 3.1 million.

I'll field for Bobby on this one. They may have blacklisted her but to be honest I don't think her music would've been popular either way. Damita Jo is all filler. There's not a single song on there that's unique to her, nothing that doesn't sound like a cheap copy of something somebody else already recorded. Jimmy and Terry are partially to blame for this, as their production was just pathetic and completely uninspired, but to add insult to injury Janet's lyrics were disgustingly graphic and would never have fared well on mainstream radio. Have you ever listened to "Moist?"

20 Y.O. may be bad, but DJ is far worse. What I think is better about '20' is that there are at least a couple of truly amazing cuts, "With U" and "So Excited." They will go down as Janet Jackson classics. On the other hand, DJ didn't contribute anything to her career. If the best that album has to offer is a song as bland as "All Nite (Don't Stop)," then you just lost your argument.

No, but Timberlake apologized right away. I think if Janet apologized right after, and not 9 weeks later, she wouldn't be in as bad a spot.

I think that if she had apologized right away she would've been seen as a spineless puppet controlled by the media.
I can't believe we're talking about this.

Yes, but at least she would've got some radio airplay.
It's irritating that Timberlake gets so much airtime and Janet doesn't. Considering he pulled it off.

LOL IKR? But his albums were better than hers ![:o](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/redface_zpsfd99364e.gif) It's true. Janet's last album that I can listen to all the way through is All for You. I luvs it. The reason I still support her now is because I still like her more than any other pop star out there. Her sweetness and humility, her dancing, her relative normalcy. I love her.

The stans on Janet-Xone have convinced themselves of two things simultaneously...
1-This is good for Janet. Now she can make all of her own decisions.
2-She has secretly signed a deal with Live Nation and they're not announcing it until after the tour.

So would I, because they would finally meet. And sparks would fly.
You never know, there could be a collab. I would be blown away if they showed the young girls how it was done.

Fail. Definitely talking about worldwide, thus the use of the word 'lifetime', meaning overall. ![;)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I am glad Janet did leave Island. it was obvious that there were problems form the begging like Janet said in a interview recentllt the lable/La Redi wanted her to a " sade" type of album meaning mellow moods and ballods. Janet wanted a album to be dance oriented, they didn't agree and bascially La Reid was like fine than we are not gonna pormote you, the lable pushed Mariah which is why they were having previews at the same time . and that should of never happend , and on the international front they did abouslty nothing for the album and that was the exact type of market that it would of done well in, so yeah I would left after that. and my guess it was a one album deal anyway,. so no lost really ,
my sugesstion would be to shop around really good, and keep her options open, or maybe she's done with the lables and want to go Indie who knows.

So am I. ![:)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif) It makes me really excited for what's to come after the tour. A fresh start, a new beginning. I know people were saying the same thing when she left Virgin, but I think this time it's for real, because she doesn't have a record deal just sitting there waiting for her. I think this is the time for a breakthrough.

I think Janet should re-release a remix to "Call on Me" with Nelly and Ashanti. That starpower would boost her sales. Oh wait...

It's not hard to sell 16 copies. Then again, that may be a touchy subject for Scherzie.
