Because it isn't very popular in the US. In Europe it's the most popular and most important sport. Sucks for them since football >>>> ![Alexz](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ec20fb7f.gif)

Gather them. All of the best American athletes are in the NFL and NBA.

I'm not really here to defend baseball but it usually doesn't take too long for runs to be scored. ![@michael.](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/micheal_zps45ccf519.gif)

America is like the hipster of the world.
They think they are above the rest of the world. And it pisses me off. Most of the country doesn't even consider soccer a sport.
It's so hard out here for a soccer fan.

Because American Football and Basketball are better
Soccer is boring imo. We could easily ask why American Football, Basketball, and Baseball aren't as popular elsewhere. It goes both ways. Different places like different things. And it's not like Soccer is just irrelevant in the US. Seems like only Europe and South America care ![rip](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/rip_zpsec10ede9.gif)

First off, most of our country is scared of losing anything, and can't handle when we're not looked upon as "the best" for some reason. With that, the world cup and soccer itself requires international participation, which doesn't guarantee an American win. After looking at that, I think the fear is more deeply embedded in the American psyche. After we left Britain and separated ourselves as a whole, I think the attitude that we could do anything on our own without help never truly left. You see it in many forms, not just with soccer but with pop culture (music, fashion, &etc.) For example, the 90s deep house revival, people here don't like it because they say "American music is better than anything else," choosing a country song which only talks about Beer and Chevy's/Fords or a rap song with extreme profanities focusing solely on sex, instead of songs with meaning. You see it when songs hit the top ten worldwide and don't even enter the top 50 in the US, sometimes not even charting whatsoever. Take dance music for example, and it's worldwide popularity, even in Canada and Mexico, but not the US. Also with fashion, people in the US, unless there's an interest in it, stick to the basics they've always known and don't stray from it. I just think this entire country is terrified of change, things unfamiliar to them, and all in which they don't come out on top tbh.

Doesn't make any sense. Look at the Olympics, the US always does great usually winning the most gold medals. It has to do with the fact, soccer isn't popular. It is popular with kids.

But it's a high paced violent sport so even if there's no score it's still entertaining.

This. There's a lot of sports the US is good/bad at, but there are only 3 we care about. ![rip](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/rip_zpsec10ede9.gif)

Because the US goes crazy over American Football, Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, and even Lacrose is more popular than Football(Soccer) in the US.

They play a lot of basketball and American football right?
I have a question: is American Football the same as Rugby?

Not in the slightest
We have our own football which although stupid is more popular. Here it's like
1.) Football
2.) Baseball
3.) Slaysketball
4.) Hockey
5.) Soccer
