I guess this has to do something with Big Machine Records being distributed by Republic Records in US. I guess they can't handle two big eras at the same time.

I am a big fan of Ariana, but Happy is one of the biggest songs ever and Pharrell couldn't crack 100K. Now I'm sure Ariana can crack 100K, but hit singles do not guarantee album sales.
They only said Ariana because she's the highest "pop girl" on the charts right now. They would've said Gaga, Beyoncé or Katy if any of them were higher than Ariana. It's not anything about her specifically. Yall are so extra sometimes.
