Atleast Lily Allen & Kate Nash give you something fun to listen to. You know when they release a new album it will be something different. Leona's next album will just be re-recorded R&B tracks

AND YOU KNOW THAT IS TRUE.

We're talking breakthrough singles, not debut
Like Amy only hit it really big with 'Rehad' same with Estelle and 'American Boy'.
I think because Feist's single was quite a while ago people have forgotten and 'With Every Heartbeat' wasn't Robyn's breakthrough, she had some top tens in the US in the 90s
I hope that clears that up for you!

But we all know Leona could live up to the name of Mariah & Whitney, definitely here anyway. We just have to say if she lives up to that name in the USA.
I don't like Leona for the main example that people bring her up to something that she isn't. I don't think she hasn't got a good voice, she has an okay voice. But she is definitely not underrated. How many people at this site praised her as soon as they heard Bleeding Love? They still do. The only reason she isn't in the paper is because she is always working, so there is nothing that the tabloids want. I know as you are a huge fan of hers, you won't be able to understand what I'm saying. Because when you have a favourite singer, you can't see their flaws. But no one will ever, and I mean EVER, get me to like Leona full time!
|
That's so true. I like leona but I'm not going to like her full time. I think she is incomplete. Her album is not so good.

True LL fans always say she is underrated, and it's like, you need to be slapped and sent to the darkest dungeon away from the rest of the World. As I've said, I can take her or leave her, but I just don't think she is anything special, nothing new. The only great thing about her is, it's great how much a British artist has took off in America, that was the only good thing.

Well at least she has one fan in Katy Perry

When I heard the album, it just seemed like the same beat with different words. It was nothing special, but R&B music is usually like that anyway ?

Yes. Spirit is a bland album. For example I enjoy ne-yo's album more than spirit.

KingOfBrit's Leona is more of a Pop artist not R&B and you can't really say anything about her 2nd album yet because that would be stupid, 'Spirit' was an album to get herself known and established which has done it's job, she's said her 2nd album will be more of an evolution from 'Spirit' so no one knows what to expect Plus Leona is a talented song-writer as well, as she wrote two whole albums before the X-Factor and lyrically they are very good, so maybe she will even do more writing on her next album, so the whole re-recording statement is also a bit premature and silly
Plus that is the first time I've heard someone say her songs always sound like the same beat with different words some reviewers have said it's boring but not that the songs sound the same :-\
& he's refering to Katy Perry being a fan of Leona Lewis as stated in one of her blogs.

Better in time is the best song in the album. The rest is bland. That's a fact

From what I've heard from the stuff before X Factor, now wait for it.......
Bear with me
Okay, I'm ready to say it.......
It was awesome. If she maybe put a bit more dancy stuff into her songs then I could become a fan. For example, I heard "Misses Glass" and I loved it ? Because it was different from all the Slow, dull and boring songs from the UK version. If she comes back with the second album and wows me, then well I will be able to say I like her. But just now I hate her music. I don't hate her, just her music

What I meant is why do you listen to Katy "Perry" when Lily and Kate are right there? They're at least clever (and talented, in Lily's case).

Thought you knew that Katy Perry (just like Lily Allen) is a *huge* Leona fan. Taken from Katy's blog:
"Recognizing greatness.
So I am fan of ALL things music… especially when it’s really really good… I mean… reeeeally good. ****ING good. Retarded good. Like YOU WIN GIRL good. I love seeing POP music take the turn it’s needed to take for so long… like there is NO room for the **** they’ve tried to stick down our throat in the past. There’s barely any music industry left. There’s no more throw away money in this biz. Every penny is accounted for and if you suck your pennies will be thrown at someone else’s chance. Every great once in a while there’s a chosen one that comes outta no where and is FOUND and heard. This chosen is Leona Lewis.
I know this one of many blogs and entries in the google search of “Leona Lewis” but let it be known my opinion of this woman. She will forever be around. There are few characters that come out these days and become staples like the Madonna’s, the Mariah’s and the Whitney’s of this world. She will/is one of them. Honestly, I don’t mean to be mean… BUT she has taken that crown Mariah held for so long for sure. Actually, Mariah prolly shipped it to her after seeing her own latest performances. Mariah, YOU ARE MARIAH… what the **** are you doing? I love touch my body every once in a while… but you missed the boat by not steering a ship like Leona Lewis’s Spirit. Get back to your roots girl.
I have some story to share with you as well about Miss Lewis. Leona is gifted from God… that is no accident, that instrument. Like I said earlier, labels aren’t giving out the pennies like they used to BUT I do know that Simon Cowell not only gave her a RIDICK amount of cash to sign her but also bought her a BIG ASS HOUSE here in the states as a bonus. Not only that… Track two off her debut album, ”I Will Be” is a song I have known for a while… even before Leona… why, do you ask? Cause there’s a set of certain producers that wrote this song that brings me to tears. Dr. Luke and Max Martin. I wrote both Hot N Cold & my first single, I Kissed A Girl with these men of greatness. Little known fact though… this song… was written with Avril Lavigne as well. WOW. Yep, from the outside looking in I know that everyone was fighting for Avril to put this on her record but for reasons I will not disclose, Avril, did not. LUCKY for this lady, Leona, recognized the greatness and recorded it. I remember Luke playing this song for me months ago and I was at the point of tears knowing I heard a song that would be the hugest thing ever… I mean, people, be prepared to hear this song at EVERY WEDDING for a LONG time.
Bleeding Love is ALSO a huge song as we have been hearing… did you know that Ryan Tedder of One Republic is responsible for this being written? (don’t know if there were any other culprits involved…) You go Ryan, you get that ****in house. He is also a classic example of sticking with it (your dreams). I was on Columbia with One Republic too when they decided to can BOTH of our records. Oops. Mistake one… and mistake two (knock on wood) , Columbia. It’s okay we forgive you, you have obviously forgotten how to recognize greatness. I also believe in Destiny though… and all things happen for a reason…
Last example. Alanis Morissette,” Jagged Little Pill” DENIED at every record label door. She moved back to Canada… and was losing hope until someone decided to take a chance on her. 30 million records later. Those guys that said it sounded to “weird,” suuuuuucks for you bros. Whatever. I know I’m rambling and I know Lily Allen made a blog post on Leona Lewis i.e. the second coming monthhhs ago… but someone gotta hype this girl across the pond. I know it’s translating and I am anxious to hear what happens in numbers next week for her.
Best New Artist of 2008…
I know in voting terms you can’t vote for yourself… so here’s mine, Leona!"

Oh okay sorry I love Kate Nash & Lily Allen so much. Lily Allen is one of my favourite artists as is Kate Nash. Just Katy Perry is there just now, and she's awesome. I'm a superfan! But when Lily comes back this year, or next year. Then Lily Allen will be the big thing! As well Kate.

I would not just like Leona Lewis because my new favourite singer thinks she is a gift from God. Because that's stupid, so Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Diana Ross & Whitney Houston must all be gifts from God.

Never mind The Bart. I also find it pretty ignorant how he calls Katy Perry a Lily copy cat, when her album sounds nothing like Allen's. If anything, it seems like Lily's new direction is more Katy than Lily. LMAO. Nice try.

I'm not actually bashing your opinion on the album or her songs because I understand everyone likes different things, I'm more bashing your opinion you have on Leona herself Like calling her a slag, a wannabe, overrated, that says to me you pretty much hate her, which I think is silly :-\ and when you actually question her talents as a singer and song-writer and automatically brush of all her future releases as being bland, crap ect. Fair enough if you don't like 'Spirit', I don't like plenty of albums you like, eg. Kate Nash - Made Of Bricks, I bought the album and hated it, whereas you probably like it as you're a fan.
Anyway that's all I have to say on the matter, if that makes sense
