I think Celine said that in respect.
But i would say that during the 90's both dominated equally, the difference is that Celine and Whitney were more WW, while Mariah even achieving huge success worldwide dominated more the US.
But as i said, just for the fact that so many couples and people got emotional to her music, this is already bigger than any impact.
Don't get me wrong, no shade to the amazing Janet, but it's easy to make people dance, What does The Fox say is an example, of course she had quality, but she is remembered as a dance act and i usually believe these emotional acts touch people's lives deeper than any other act.
