I expect the black womanist to have her head by tomorrow. They've dragged nearly every white feminist who has come for Bey and her feminism in the past year or so.

White feminist always have issues with black women and their sexuality they're the ones who praise Miley and Madonna while dragging Beyoncé and Rihanna for the same reason. Didn't a writer from the guardian also get dragged by feminist blog for dissing Bey talking about equality in GQ?

Honestly Me and Mrs Carter seems a bit odd to me.
But i'm going to wait for the real confirmation before stating a definitive opinion

NOT ONE LIE SPOTTED
Beyonce is a project catered to a male-dominated world feeding into patriarchal social norms and stereotypes. All her material and performance art is sex / relationship / glamor oriented. Girls wanna be her, men wanna be with her and gays buy into her ****.
Her performances are degrading to women, they exploit femininity and sex
Take all of me
I just wanna be the girl you like, girl you like
The kind of girl you like, girl you like
Take all of me
I just wanna be the girl you like, girl you like
The kinda girl you like
Is right here with me
Poor girls looking up to her as a role model

She didn't lie.
You can't say that men and women should be equal and then walk around as a glorified pet to your man.
Whatever though.

Probably not, because she also left out the period after r (if it were really supposed to be an r).

So it is exploiting femininity and sex to be both feminine and SEXY in the public eye?
Do we tell Zac Efron that he is exploiting masculinity and sex by being shirtless on stage? Is David Beckham a terrible man because he has sustained a career based off looks and the size of his package?
You're playing an anti feminist role by dismissing a woman as exploiting by OWNING her sexuality. You've belittled her by assuming that she doesn't own it and everything she does is for the attention and excitement of men.
And Partition.. Having a desire to please your man sexually is not anti feminist.

And people saying she jumped on the feminist bandwagon lately....
I guess we're just going to ignore her singing Independent Women before tumblr was even invented...

How is she being a glorified pet to her husband and what is wrong with a woman taking her husband's name?

I see what you're saying, but I don't know if I really agree. Beyoncé has such a squeaky clean image outside of her videos and songs, which should equally influence black girls. She's known just as much for her celebrity as she is for her music, and her music describes her private life. She's not telling young black girls to bow down to men. I believe she's promoting ways to keep your man by satisfying him, so that he doesn't go looking around for other women, while also publicly remaining independent, courageous, and in charge. She's teaching black girls to be smart.

At the end of the day there is no one right way to look at an issue. There's never just one right answer. There are wrong ways, but I don't think Beyoncé is promoting a wrong meaning of feminism.

Aren't they
The french part of Partition really calls them out.
The idea of taking on both submissive and dominating roles (as expressed in Upgrade U, Suga Mama, Irreplaceable, RTW, Lay Up Under Me) really bothers them.

This is a pathetic and pathological thought and essentialy the core of her subtle mysogyny as echoed in "If you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it. Don't be mad once you see that he want it"

I wouldn't call Zac Efron and David Beckham -or Beyonce- terrible but it's a similar, sad case.
She is always the object, center of attention. That's not exactly owning your sexuality.

Beyonce's idea of taking on a dominant role is assuming the male role (King B) and being "fierce" (how and why exactly?)
She is essentialy a house-wife in sequins, under the strobe lights holding back the future for women and all human beings

Single Ladies is a simplistic pop song, let's not look to it for feminist mantra.
It's only not owning your sexuality if you don't want to be there.
Beyoncé does not look uncomfortable/anxious when dancing in stage outfits. She would not wear something she did not want to wear or sing something she didn't want to sing.

'Carter' is a nicer name that 'Knowles'. To me, anyway. I don't think you can overlook aesthetics (if that's the right word) of the surname.
I'm a feminist. I'd still go for whichever is the nicer sounding surname. As long as you're not vowing to obey I don't have a problem with marriage as a concept.
|
This!! It does not mean you're not a feminist just because you take your husband's name!
