you kinda just know... it's the "gaydar"
this one guy in high school was super popular, athletic, had a bunch of girlfriends and even a reputation for cheating on his girlfriends with the trashy ****s of the school... however, I just knew it in my gut that he had a thing for dudes.
2 years later I come home from college for a break and find out he was ****ing around with the biggest flamer at our school. Everyone else was surprised but I just started asking around for his number/where he worked etc

Also, this ain't always the case, but some gays who are in the closet try to make EVERYTHING about how they get women. I've noticed this with some of the more popular and seemingly womanizing men at my high school as they came out in college.

Facial expressions, eyes, and vocal inflections always give it away. Also, watch how he interacts with girls. If you still can't tell, just start having conversations with him and it will become obvious.

It's in the way he carries himself, and in the way he'll keep eye contact with you a split second longer than he should.
This assuming the stereotypes don't apply, cause seriously, most of them are based in truth

Just find out who their fave is, and say something shady about them. My friend used it on me, example: "Oh you like Rihanna? I liked her to in that episode of WWE she was in."
