Her heyday has passed and even though Carrie will never replace her, she is the closest equivalent to today's generation Shania that there is. In other words, Carrie is the only country female with pop crossover appeal these days kind of like the way Shania (and Faith Hill) were to the 90's and early 00's. 450k is extremely impressive in this day and age. Do you honestly think Come on Over would've sold 1/2 as much as it did 10 years ago if it were released today?? Hardly! Give Carrie a break because she is the queen of Country at the moment and she is a genuinely kind, intelligent, beautiful down-to-earth person. How dare you attack her for being recognized by a talent show? For your information, Shania probably would've never made it big if it weren't for her husband, Mutt.
Since you act so smart please tell everyone what you think Shania's COO album that had many hits singles worldwide and sold 38 million worldwide and still was selling great during much of the down loading period.
You have no clue what it would of sold. It sure as hell would of blown every album today out of the water even if it were released today.
Going back and trying to predict how much downloading effected certain albums is pointless because you have no clue. Go back to MJ thriller and tell me how much he would of sold too.
On another note, I just bought Carnival Ride today and it is the first Country album I have ever purchased. Carrie is a great role model and and a humble person with a nice voice and I'm happy to support her.

You are plain stupid, COO would of sold still twice as much as any album these days nomatter what. That album had 10 hit singles and dominated worldwide. It sure as hell would of sold twice as much as Underwood album because it had many massive hits worldwide and stayed on the billboard top 20 longer than any album in history.Don't even be so stupid to compare a huge icon making album like COO to anything CU will ever make.
It holds tons of records and blew away the competition back in the 90's and today.
Carrie underwoods album isn't even the best selling album the last 2 years, Nicheal back is.
And to even compare what Shania did to this AI reject is laughable.
Shania had Nashville against her and had no AI exposure.
It was just her and Mutt doing it thereselves and they took it worldwide and global.
So don't come hear and insult Shania like that.
And dont' give me that crap about being nice and humble. She bashes Shania in the EW article and acts like she is big or something lmao!!!!!
She can't even carry Shania's wallet, it is too heavy.
And 450,000 is not impressive at all considering all the exposure and momentum she has had. She won't even be in the top 4 biggest opening week this year. I think her fans are going way overboard with praising her.Her label is trying to promote her everywhere and people will get sick of her.
Like I said she is a very small act when up against an icon like Shania. You say Shania is past her hey day? lmao!!!
I bet she can comeback in 2008 and still be one of the top seller in the world and of course she will have another huge world tour.
And all of these lame excuses about downloading is laughable. Lincon Park still sold 700,000. Even an old Greatest Hits cd with only 3 new songs on it and little promotion by Shania sold over 500,000 just 3 years ago.
I think you need to face reality. The real big stars can still sell over 500,000 the first week downloading or not and they don't even need half the promotion of CU.
