Of course I get in, I know white privilege exists. All that Im arguing is that it shouldnt be used in such a confrontative. antagonizing way in order for more white people to understand the concept and jump into taking actions to make equality to prosper.

If you take a statistics class, you'll realize that statistics are kinda bogus overall. If you just cut up these groups into smaller and more accurate chunks, you will note that immigrated blacks do better and are more likely to have a bachelor's degree than even whites. If you split up Asians by Eastern/Southeastern Asians and Pacific islanders, you'll note that pacific islanders have a worse graduation rate than blacks and hispanics. etc etc.
These statistics give a broad broad fuzzy picture, but don't really prove anything definitively about a specific individual's chances to make it in this country because it is impossible to be specific enough.

In my country they're taking measurements to combat this. For example, companies will have an investigation against them done if their proportion of employees of color is significantly lower than that of the population around them, and can potentially be shut down or forced to employ more POC. Universities here also aren't allowed to have too many white people/too few POC. The university I'm currently at is actually less than 50% white people.

I'm biracial (black and white) and I personally don't believe in white privilege. It is so silly to me and does nothing to better humanity. It almost worsens it because you are telling someone, "Hey! This statistic says that you are less likely to get a job because you are black." and you are just supposed to reply with, "Damn that white privilege!" and complain about it.
White privilege is lowkey something I think that was identified with the right intentions, but now is used as another reason to hate white people. **** statistics and realize that they don't have to define you. If you are a POC, don't worry about what statistics say... Keep working hard and realize that it's the struggle and the experience that makes your outcome better. Don't give up and once you get there, help your fellow POCs (and whites) achieve their dreams.
I know I have a really abnormal way of looking at things and that's because I mentally try to turn complex situations into simple ones, which often times can make be a mess. So just take my words with a grain of salt.

In a way you have a good attitude. Like I see what you mean, however, you haven't expressed it very well. You can't just not believe in the concept all together. For sure, it does exist. But you are telling people to forget race, help themselves, and help each other, move forward as one, which is good! That is what needs to happen - people need to identify institutionalised racism and eradicate it in the system.
I think the point of slides like this is to inform people of the concept in the first place. And that is, that there are marginal preferences societies give to white people. Although, this particular set of slides is awful because it is condescending, mocking, unhelpful in working towards a solution, and the actual statistics are presented wrongly in some cases.
So often actually these tumblr things are written in the most snooty tone. Kind of embarrassing, whoever wrote it.

Actually, you'll realize that they were if you just do a little digging. So were Italian Americans. In fact, Bank of America used to be called Bank of Italy because it was founded by a guy who wanted to give Italians the chance to actually open a bank account and apply for a mortgage in this country.

Class and race are inextricably linked in America. Just think of this old joke: "A rich guy, a white guy and a black guy sit down at a table together. There's a plate of 12 cookies, the rich guy grabs 11 of them and says to the white guy 'watch out, that black guy's trying to steal your cookie." I think this one of the most succinct ways of explaining the race/class issue in the US and how racial resentment has been used to divide and conquer the middle and working classes since forever.
i copied this from the bussfeed comment section BTW

What is reminding people of their supposed privilege supposed to accomplish though? It's not like it changes anything. Everyone already knows coloured people have it harder to a certain extent, why do we need a comic to tell us that?

I have taken several statistics classes, so I'm not sure what you mean by "if."
It's interesting you bring up immigrated blacks, considering that despite having the highest education rate of any foreign-born group in America, they also have the largest unemployment rate. Maybe you should go study those statistics a little more, because you seem to have missed some very important points.

Yeah, I'm not all the great at expressing my thoughts, mainly when it comes to more "complex" discussions that don't allow me the time to really formulate an argument.
And thank you for your response. I see where you are coming from and I might chose my wording a bit better from now on. ![:)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif)

This has to be the biggest ******** I've ever seen.
In stead of co signing this, I think people should WORK for success (whether black or white) in stead of hiding behind statistics.
Also that thing about the bachelor degrees, aren't there more white people in America hence the higher percentage?

This is a very good analogy and I cannot believe this came from the Buzzfeed comments section.

Making people aware of their privilege will make them more able to understand how difficult life can be without those privileges. Most white people assume every person of color in this country has the same opportunities for success. That's why you see people saying the "They just need to work hard" mess all the time.
People pointing out the problems with racism in our society aren't the problem.

Did you not read the comic? Someone who works just as hard (or more hard) is more likely to not achieve success because they are black. Their being black will deny them from achieving the same success as a white man. A white man with a criminal record is more likely to be hired than a black man with a clean record. Please go back and re-read and try to actually understand what you're reading. Pretending statistics aren't real doesn't solve anything.

In many cases, Asians come into the country much poorer and with severe language barriers to overcome.

That's true to a certain extent, but since whites are becoming the minority, they have seemingly accepted Asians as honorary white people... ![coffee2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/b80efe23.gif)
