But OT, Christina didn't really have any impact on the industry or change it in any way.

Again I am willing to concur with Britney's laundry list of accomplishments, but to say that Christina is a pale imitation or only exists in contrast to Britney is a hilarious troll attempt. In terms of relevancy in the early 2000s, the most popular two female artists were Britney and Christina. Christina took a completely different route when she did Stripped; whereas Britney opted to continue working with Max Martin and appeal to the mainstream. Christina took more collaborative risks, which worked in many cases but not in all.
Christina has also endured 2 highly-publicized flop-eras, yet she continues to get asked to perform at award shows, collab with popular artists, & command an impressive salary on the Voice because of the very one thing that does make her relevant: her voice & sheer talent. Had she lacked talent, her career probably wouldn't have survived the Bionic/Lotus failures.
And has Katy changed the game at all? Not really. She's made a highly successful career playing it safe -- making radio friendly songs to appeal to the widest demographic of the GP. She really hasn't taken any risks, in my opinion. That being said, I am a fan of her's and enjoy her music. Teenage Dream is an epic album. Prism severely disappointed me, but it's clearly doing well commercially so I give it props regardless.
