I don't think those poor people in Uganda even have internet connection. ![psyduck](images/smilies/images/smilies/psyduck.gif) No offense, I'm just saying that the people who can't afford iTunes match probably can't afford illegal downloading either (because of the internet costs).

Of course ![Gay Cat](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/random/cat_zpsebvh5uip.png) But I also buy stuff on iTunes now and then and use Rhapsody/Spotify

and plus, you can put in your iTunes library a low quality .mp3 at 128kb/s, match it and download back the real iTunes Plus AAC M4A, you can have up to 5k songs in your iTunes Library, all of 'em are stored in the cloud in your iCloud account being accessible in any apple OS
like spotify or pandora, somehow, but you can actually have the songs stored offline

I was always confused about ITunes Match. What you described is exactly what I thought it would be but it doesn't seem efficient ![huh?](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/7be5c36a.gif) What makes it easier to use than Spotify?

the offline play mode, you can store the .m4a files offline and actually own them, do whatcha want with them and stuff, it's like you just bought the song the traditional way
spotify, pandora and iTunes Radio on the other hand is like an online radio where you can pick the songs you want to listen
sometimes when the songs leak I can match them and get the iTunes Store version even before it's released in iTunes Store US

I used to pay for everything, including digital copies, but I wasted way too much money so I download most albums illegally now, and I buy physical copies of the albums if I really like them.

Are they literally the m4a files you would get if you bought the songs normally? Or are they dependent on your subscription? Like would those files stop working if you cancelled you subscription or do you get to keep them?
And it only does 5000 songs?

Some of them do ![psyduck](images/smilies/images/smilies/psyduck.gif) Uganda even has their own iTunes store. This is their current chart thousands of songs has been bought by the Ugandan GP on iTunes, so I think illegal downloading in Uganda is a big thing, regardless of internet costs. ![Celestial 5](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/9b5f67d8.gif)

A chinese friend of mine told me that in China they have something called QQ Music where they can download any music for free, and it's legal. ![Gay Cat](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/random/cat_zpsebvh5uip.png)

Truthfully speaking, ever since I got a job, no.
I buy from Amazon, iTunes and I stream music on Spotify.

I know
Hip Hop & R&B is such a local genre in Africa. I'm not surprised Ugandans use their coins to support these artists who will probably never sit foot in Africa. ![Gay Cat](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/random/cat_zpsebvh5uip.png)

yes, they're the exactly same file people get when they buy
sometimes we even download Matched songs on those iTunes Plus sites
If your subscription is active they will be kept in the cloud and you can download them to listen offline or just listen to the tracks online like Spotify or something, once the subscription stops working (you don't renew it, for example), the songs in the cloud will disappear and the offline songs will remain untouched
5000 songs is the maximum amount you can have in the cloud available to listen without having to store offline

if I'm not mistaken, I've seen here in ATRL that in South Korea they pay like 14 cents/month and they can get plenty of legal songs, that's awesome ![Gay Cat](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/random/cat_zpsebvh5uip.png)

Oh, so that's how all those iTunes Plus sites get their material
I think I'm good right now with what I use but at the same time now I'm really curious to try iTunes Match just for like a month at least to see what it's like. A few more questions...
If you convert a whole album, do you get the albums bonuses like the iTunes LP or any digital booklet too?
Can you trick iTunes Match? Like name a file a certain name and/or make it a certain length to make it match a song you don't actually have? Or like will it actually scan the songs wavelengths and stuff

No, I stream everything. It's a lot easier than having to search for download links; the quality is always good, I know it's not a virus, it's not against the law and the artists actually get some type of revenue. It's the ideal way to listen to make that you don't want/can't buy + hear music BEFORE you buy.
I do pay for a monthly subscription, but it's a really low cost compared to what I would be paying if I bought every song I wanted to listen to.
I do, however, download Asian music from a ******* site. If I had the option to stream, I would. but it's just not as accessible here and I'm not about to pay $50 to have a mini-album with 3 songs shipped to my house.

booklets and videos are not ilegible to match, but you can have them on your iTunes library normally once you downloaded 'em illegally
iTunes Match uses a special algorithm to know which song is that, the metadata is dispensable but countless times I've downloaded a song on youtube and then matched it and got the real iTunes Plus version
songs that aren't identified are uploaded to the cloud and those aren't changed or matched
you can change the metadata as much as you want to, including the albumart
