The thing is, if ARTPOP is a flop, then what does that make all of y'all?
I would love to see the members of ATRL try to make an album with 1/100th of the success of ARTPOP, and cackle at them failing.

specially with all the discounts, promo, amounts of money put into marketing, not to mention the fact that Gaga is only 5 years into her career

All the discounts? She's also only on her second single that hasn't even peaked yet. If the era is over and it's only sold 1.2m then you can say something.. but why judge an era that isn't done yet that has had two successful singles on radio, and one single that did well digitally and on radio..?

You said this like the album was released one year ago. It hasn't even been 2 months since the album is out and it's still selling pretty okay. It's not like it ended up selling 1.2M

the thing is it FEELS like we've had about FOUR singles and a REMIX, currently working on ANOTHER REMIX, but only ONE messy video since AUGUST 2013 and we'll be in 2014 in less than a week.

ARTPOP is a Flop. Both chart-wise and quality-wise.
Chart-wise, because everyone expected her to break records, because SHE said she would.
I'm not ashamed to say that I do care about chart positions. Why? Cause this hypocritical bitch cares about them too, and EVERYONE knows it..
And she's trying to hide it in the most desperate ways, (as in #StopTheDrama, etc)
You know what's even more tragic? That she thought making all of her songs EDM would mean they'd be worldwide hits. Where has she been this whole time?
She's either too blinded by her desire to be Queen by reinventing herself (as in Madonna) and for constantly trying to come up with fake inspirations to look more original (**** that Bowie crap!) or more artsy ("ART"pop), either the weed has gone to her head...
Gaga needs a return to her pure songwriting, with NO preconditions set (i.e. EDM, pop trends, stupid producers and fake inspirations->>> ALL OF WHICH WERE FACTORS IN ARTPOP BEING A FLOP, QUALITY WISE ) and a big ****ing reality check.
Oh, and a big hug too, cause I honestly believe she cares about her art, whatever art may that be...

Her sales aren't increasing compared to her last era. And 550K in the US is hardly something to boast about.

Well..the thing is. We are not popstars who had a huge campaign for an album, as much press, the amazing producers, as much hype, loads of tv performances, promo all over the world, a huge household name that gaga already is - coming from huge eras. It really is an underperformance for Gaga, cause people just expected her to sell more than her peers. You can't be THAT in denial. As much as i wish this era would pick up again, cause i really like the album, i don't see any of the remaining songs doing more for her than Applause and DWUW which are amazing radio-friendly songs. Her sales are not bad but for someone of Gaga's status it is an underperformance

I don't get why people would call that a flop. BTW did well. The thing is, people expected SO much after The Fame, that numbers not close to the TF/TFM ones would be considered a flop. In comparison to her first album maybe (cause any album would have to be considered a flop then - 21 excluded), but in comparison to her peers in pop music NOT at all.
