WFL was 10, I think. Roar spent 9 weeks at #2, I believe. She had the misfortune of debuting during the reign of the biggest radio hit of all time, getting overtaken by Miley's sledgehammer-licking Youtube boost and then another one of the 10 biggest radio hits off all time, Royals.

Not trying to make sorry excuses. WFL didn't spend 10 weeks at #1 by luck, but chart positions are relative and don't tell the whole story.

Exactly what impact did WFL have? It was a huge hit -- nothing more, nothing less.

I always see people mentioning WFL's impact like LMFAO didn't make shuffle/EDM the huge trend and "Take Over Control," a song that sounded remarkably similar to WFL's instrumental, which is supposedly what's so "influential" about it, didn't hit the top 40.

Well if we want to look at other factors, We Found Love's video was more viral than Roar's. And if I'm not mistaken, was streaming a big part of the charts back when We Found Love was a single? Because that would make it's chart run more impressive than Roar's since Roar had streaming assistance.
