I'm definitely not trying to start a fight or insists that every member here has the same views. However, if you were to replace all the anti-lesbian comments here with just purely anti-gay comments, you would be ripped apart severely (and rightfully so) by the other members here. On the other hand, I feel like if the insult regards a female, it is fair game and allowable on this board.
Regarding if I'm taking this way too seriously, I honestly think I did not. I was offended by the comments posted earlier and not much was done about it. What would you do if it were the other way around and anti-gay comments were posted and most people egged it on for their quick laughing moment?
Side Note: In Big Brother, was Aaryn right to say that Candice and Howard were just overreacting by the "jokes" that Aaryn made? Did the majority of BB watchers here side with Aaryn or did they with Candice and Howard? Why was there such a great support for anti-Racism here yet anti-Lesbian comments are still made on this thread? This is because there isn't a huge support system for Lesbian in ATRL.
ATRL is a forum of Jack McFarlands; don't expect anyone to change or become enlightened. I'm not cool with prejudice or hateful dialogue in everyday life but this is an internet forum meaning you are here on your own volition and if you can't stand the heat, well, fortunately for you there's a 'sign out' button in the upper right hand corner.
I'm sorry but really?its the INTERNET. Who cares what someone says about you on here?Like honestly.....
The thing is these things are actually said in real life and it should be called out. Just cause its the internet doesn't mean you go around saying everything and anything people have been fired for saying the wrong stuff. Everyone is allowed to have a point of view but don't get your undies in a bunch when someone challenges you on it.
So somebody called P!nk a man or a lesbo in a thread. Like get over it.
People say "***" and "queer" etc all the time. We don't need to make special rules for lesbian members.
It was meant to be an insult - and this has already been going for SUCH A LONG TIME not even funny. They don't use it the same way to insult male artists though? There's a big diference
As a gay male, I respect and appreciate everything you wrote.
I promise that anytime I see someone that has written/said an inflammatory comment against the lesbian community on ATRL I will stand up for you all. Thank you for sharing your feelings and trying to bring awareness to the pain that words truly do bring.
