Yes, there is also a finished version (without Drew Barrymore) on the soundtrack.

Orangenial Music - 031807
Orangenial Music
presented by the fairly oddparents
Electrelane - To The East
Source: Pitchfork
- Somehow the slow beginning, which did take some time to grow on me, really adds up and by the time the vocals come in, it just ends up sounding really good.
PoP! - PoP! Goes My Heart (video)
Source: Music & Lyrics
- Not only is this a catchy song, but the video itself is quite amusing. Hugh Grant also shows that in addition to having a great accent, he has a singing voice. If not going to see the movie, I recommend at least checking out the video for this song.
Six songs that I feel like mentioning (in addition to the previous songs):
There is something about these songs... darn them.Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm
Album: Favourite Worst Nightmare | Year: 2007
- What a crazy song. At first I was a bit surprised but then I just found it catchy. Just recently the video was released and it seems to work with the song.
Butch Walker - Hot Girls In Good Moods
Album: The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonites | Year: 2006
- This album sure took a long time to grow on me... heck, it still is growing. As for the song, it just hit me at some point how great it was.
Feist - Monarch
Album: Monarch (Lay Down Your Jeweled Head) | Year: 1999
- Strings! Feist! Do I really have to say more? Actually, those were my first thoughts, other than how it surprisingly reminded me of Tori Amos.
Kimberley Locke - Wrong
Album: One Love | Year: 2004
- After hearing that Kimberley will have a new album out soon, I had to remind myself of who she was. Catchy song, which I definitely remember playing a lot.
Sally Shapiro - Hold Me So Tight
Album: Disco Romance | Year: 2006
- This is such a retro album and just recently this song started to stick out. As with the last Sally song, lyrics, music, and vocals all got me.
Teddybears - Different Sound
Album: Music & Lyrics | Year: 2007
- "She moves to a different sound" It is the Intel commercial song! That is probably the reason why it seemed so familiar when listening to the soundtrack.
I finally realized how awesome Fairly Oddparents is. What a great week... Hopefully you guys also had a good week.

Orangenial Music - 032507
Orangenial Music
presented by a retired Indiana congressman
Amanda Rogers - And She Waited
Source: I Guess I'm Floating
- A Cappella done right. Honestly, I love how majority of this song is just this girl singing. In the starting it starts off with one voice but then another voice comes in and you can truly sense the contrast and emotion. I definitely recommend this sweet song.
Hot Chip - Over and Over (video)
Source: Television
- I recently saw the video for this song and when remembering their song "Playboy", I was immediately drawn to the repetition of the chorus. What an interesting video.
Six songs that I feel like mentioning (in addition to the previous songs):
There is something about these songs... darn them.Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger
Album: Costello Music | Year: 2006
- The song finally started to grow on me after Gerry's mention!
Hilary Duff - I Wish
Album: Dignity | Year: 2007
- If you have not heard any of the songs online, I really suggest finding a way to check them out! This song just happened to stick out, in addition to her singles. I guess it is because at first listen, I felt like I could relate... I later realized it was just the music. Catchy!
Katherine McPhee - Love Story
Album: Katharine McPhee | Year: 2007
- I love the feel of this song! I know the theme is typical but she makes this song so much fun!
Kings of Leon - On Call
Album: Because Of The Times | Year: 2007
- So this also took a while to grow on me... I guess it was because I never truly gave it a chance after the beginning, despite really liking their previous singles. Either way, I definitely recommend checking the album out!
Republica - Ready To Go
Album: Republica | Year: 1996
- This song was recently played on an episode of a show and the whole week it just stuck. While that show was not what introduced me, it definitely had me like the song more than I already did!
Timbaland ft. The Hives - Throw It On Me
Album: Timbaland Presents: Shock Value | Year: 2007
- What an amazing beat and seeing I never expected to see this match-up, this song seems to work. I mostly love it when driving, haha.
Did you know 3LW has new music out? According to random blogs, their new single will be "Strictly Business" so if you thought they were dead or just like them and want to check it out, I say go for it! As for me, once again, it was an exciting weekend. I had my first and last field trip in years! Not to mention, only one week until my Spring Break!

Yes, the Republica song is from the late 90's, specifically around 1996.

Based on your list, I recommend you listen (if you haven't had already) "Hot Chip -Colours".

Orangenial Music - 033107
in Disney Digital 3-D...
Orangenial Music
YACHT - See A Penny (Pick It Up)
Source: Stereogum
- This song is so catchy. I admit it is probably the repetitive background beat that makes it catchy, but at the same time, I feel like this song could have been so much better. It is already pretty good but I wish they had a different background, mostly because I kept thinking of some older pop songs and it was just weird.
Dead Disco - Automatic (myspace)
Source: various blog sites
-I know the reason I checked them out was because I am usually interested in female vocals (Dead Disco has three females in it). However, this song turned out better than I expected! It has such a pop-like feel to it!
Six songs that I feel like mentioning (in addition to the previous songs):
There is something about these songs... darn them.Ben Folds - Still
Album: Over The Hedge soundtrack | Year: 2006
- Not only was this movie great, but the numerous Ben Folds songs really added to it. What an amazing song, with both lyrics and music. Lyrically, I could sort of relate, but mostly because I immediately thought of someone. As for the music, I love the la-da's!
Chevelle - Well Enough Said
Album: Vena Sera | Year: 2007
- I did not expect this song to be the way it is. When it started playing, it took me a while to realize it was Chevelle.
Chris Cornell - No Such Thing
Album: No Such Thing | Year: 2007
- The last song I heard from Chris was You Know My Name, the famous theme song for Casino Royal. It was a nice surprise to see this one, because I was not expecting it. What is weird is that parts of this song remind me of You Know My Name.
The Doors - Five To One
Album: Waiting For The Sun | Year: 1968
- This is one of my favorite song by the Doors. Just recently I was looking through random songs to put in my weekly playlist and I ended up at this. It brings back memories to the time I was getting introduced to new music and expanding my horizons. What a great song!
Lily Allen - Naive
Album: LDN | Year: 2006
- I could not find the original anywhere before, so now that I finally was able to do so, it was nice to compare the two. I, personally, like Lily Allen's cover more... probably because it is more melodic and because of the way she sings. The Kooks made a good song though!
The Used - The Bird And The Worm
Album: Lies For The Liars | Year: 2007
- Much like the Chevelle song, I was much surprised at this song. However, the surprise only lasted a few seconds. The song to start off with strings!
Hey Julie, thanks for providing a suggestion. I actually have listened to Colours but for some reason, that always seems like a song that would work during a certain mood. Hot Chip has this weird calming effect but at the same time, them repeating Colours makes the song bizarre, which ends up being selective when it comes to when it seems appealing to me. Feel free to provide more suggestions though!
It is finally the end of March! I love that I finally have time to relax, now that my spring break (of one week) has begun. However, March 31st also means that this year's NCAA Tournament games continue today. Good luck with your brackets!

Wow, how has something like this happened (even though it might not be huge news)... yet it still seems like not many people know about Vox.com? More information can be found at this Vox Team blog post.

^From this: Vox is the obstacle one has to go through in order to be played in front of those labels?
...I think this is a good idea if pending upon how the site operates and picks what should be played.

Well, Vox is not really an obstacle. It is just a blogging website, which you can check out yourself. I guess they have to introduce their music there, instead of any other way of sharing their talent, in order to get a chance at those labels. I like that they would do something like this instead of continuing to rely on CDs.
Although, I wonder if this is a sign that CDs will soon become a thing of the past...

good post!
the death of the CD is something that truly saddens me.
I mean, I download music all the time, but it's a whole other experiance to actually own a copy of it. to crack it open for the first time with that nice new CD smell, to read the booklet, and all the other things you look forward to when getting an album.
I mean, I like how advanced we have gotten with technology with cell phones, computers, internet etc, but if all our music becomes digital.. I dunno. it's something that I would probably never get used to.
though, maybe for new acts trying to get their name out there this could be a interesting strategy. instead of going through piles of demo cd's sent in every day, they could just check the page or whatever to listen to something quick. maybe it will stop all the terrible no-name rappers from urging people to buy their demo on the street corners.that's always a plus
and, yeah if that is all rambling then it's cause it's 3 am.

I love the new CD smell! Admittedly, I do not have a lot of CDs but you are right, there is a whole other experience when it comes to opening CDs. I mean, will they somehow find a way to introduce the booklet online, and what is the fun of looking at two jpegs and trying to read them? Will they even bother to do something in addition to just providing the music? Well, at least this way the money goes out less to the producer of the CD and more to the artists, which could give indie artists a better market, but what a change.
I wonder if there is a way people can screw this up... pages with layouts that just appeal to the executives, always always spamming them with your page link, etc? Yeah, there is a good and bad when it comes to this and I definitely agree with what you've said in your "rambling," haha.

I have a lot of CDs, and it would suck if they went Digital, because the New CD smell is awesome, and opening them makes you feel like. Whee new music

Orangenial Music - 040707
Orangenial Music
brought to you by covers!
Mark Ronson f/ Amy Winehouse - Valerie
Source: Benjammin' #44 of altcast!
- What a great cover. I have just started hearing about Amy Winehouse but Ben has played songs with her before and once again, another song that stuck out. Her voice and Mark Ronson add a special touch to the cover but at the same time, does not have you completely forget about the original.
Mark Ronson f/ David Merriweather - Stop Me (video)
Source: Technically, Ben
-If I had not heard the covers from Ben's latest Benjammin' episode, I would have not not wanted to check out the album myself. This was one of the songs that just hit some feeling. Maybe it was because this is a cover of the Smiths song or maybe it was the style (strings!), I am glad I heard the cover.
Six songs that I feel like mentioning (in addition to the previous songs):
There is something about these songs... darn them.Lily Allen - Blank Expression
Album: Alright, Still | Year: 2006
- This is Lily Allen's cover of the song by Specials. She kept the overall feel of the song but I guess I like this cover more because of her voice and style. She did not change much in the cover but I think that is why it worked out well.
Maria Mena - You're The Only One
Album: White Turns Blue | Year: 2004
- This is purely for memories sake. The lyrics remind me of a feeling and the song reminds me of Open.TV. Open.TV would bring videos, sort of like TRL, to this area except they would show videos that were just random, rather than only top pop chart hits. There was little input from the members, they talked about their own topics, but it was nice because for a while that was my source for music. The reason I mention the song now is because it will also serve as a memory for this years spring break. One day but more than enough.
Razorlight - Who Needs Love?
Album: Razorlight | Year: 2006
- One of my favorite songs from Razorlight's latest album. I know the topic is quite typical but I really love the feel of this song and just recently I started wanting to hear this song again. I think I will blame the lack of desire when it comes to actual love.
The Smiths - Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before
Album: Strangeways, Here We Come | Year: 1987
- I know I have not heard every Smiths song possible but it seems every random song I hear, I end up really liking. I first checked them out because of their reference in Perks Of Being A Wallflower, but their style just really works. I am glad that Johnny Marr and Morrissey are still around.
Split World Collision - Watch Out Alice
Album: Split World Collision | Year: 2006
- It is weird having this repeatedly play in my mind. Two of the members, I sort of know, and while I know this band is not that great, they sort of remind me of my first year in high school. That was the year when I was last interested in a local school band. Perhaps this song stuck out because it reminds me of my 2006 summer or perhaps it really is catchy, I guess we will never know.
Steriogram - Walkie Talkie Man
Album: Schmack! | Year: 2004
- Good ol' 2004. This song reminds me of not only that year but certain people. Plus, it was featured in Agent Cody. Maybe that is why I randomly get reminded of it when I see Frankie Muniz...
My spring break is over. I am quite bummed out... mostly because I have to catch up on stuff I procrastinated on. Some that was due before spring break and some that we had to work on during spring break. I hate when teachers give work during spring break. "It's getting closer to finals and what not." Frick!
In other news, I am 9 weeks away from all of this ending! WOO!
